Most of the time driving along using LDP, I could not help but notice this big billboard King Crab opposite Kelana Jaya Station, which is not a stranger to most of us yet I have heard quite number of my friends that they like this restaurant as so far I have frequently dine at Fatty Crab located at SS24 but not until recently got invited for a review session by BBO to the restaurant.

I just love the 'Achar' that is well marinated, with sour and a bit spicy and its a great appetizer to start off with.

King Crab (7)

'Signature Long Ribs' is something that we enjoy along, when it was serve, the aroma of it is so tempting till I grab a rib to lick and start bite on the edge, its juicy and the meat is tender, a dish worth recommending.

'Thai Style Tilapia Fish'

King Crab (16)

'Braised Duck with Chu Hou sauce'

'Red Wine Baked Crabs'

King Crab (18)

When you go to a seafood restaurant which is famous for crab, of course you would not want to miss their signature dish! 'Creamy Butter Crabs Baked in Claypot'

King Crab (19)

At first I did not bother to eat this yet as it involves using hand and I was still trying out other dishes, it was not until Sunny start eating it, and seeing the way he it is so tempting till I could not resist and jump in to grab the crab.

When I dig to find the crab part that I want, my fingers already covered with the creamy sauce and when I lick it, OMG! I was like in heaven. It was so rich in taste, creamy and I just cannot stop licking the crab craw. The meat is solid hard which shows the sign its fresh. This is one of the best butter crab that I have had so far and surely its a higly recommended dish by me if you do go to this restaurant.

Then Dato requested us to try to eat with the ‘Fried Man Tou’ and without much hesitation, I just walap the man tau and dip it into the butter crab and I was in heaven, with the creamy thick sauce and crispy warm man tau . . . I just wish I could have more of it, and that makes Andrew want to have the last piece of man tau as he keeps staring.

King Crab (20)

The dishes that were served on that night. It was lots of food on the table, as we finish everything up and lick it clean.

King Crab (22)

During the dinner, we have a special honor guest that dine with us too which is the restaurant owner ‘Dato Marcus Kam’, a young man who graduated as the Chemical Engineer and with the MBA qualification that has burning desire in everything that he is interest in. He is also a speak in a lot of events, and we have learn a lot from him during the dinner, to him, a great business talk would not be perfect if without wine.

I could not deny that we had a great food and would be one of the best seafood restaurants to recommend in the area. *Non-Halal

BB Seafood Village @ Subang Airport

Posted by Taufulou | Labels: , , , , , | Posted On Sunday, March 7, 2010 at 10:58 PM

The very last time I travel to this area was my college times, as we visit this place quite frequently for the western food and seafood as we find the seafood was relatively cheap, it was not until last month when my best friend Tatt came down for his business trip also treat us for his birthday before he went back. One thing that I know that the Subang Airport now had transform till very nice and I really wish that on that time it was operate by Airasia when they very first started(for convenience wise).

I guess the restaurant that I ate is no longer at the same place as and had move as then I still remember that it was very next to the western food (Papa and Mama Grill).

BB Seafood

BB Seafood (2)

A very classic type of seafood restaurant build with atap and set with wooden and plastic chairs.

BB Seafood (3)

The very first order came by was 'Clear Fried Clamp' RM16 which I find it very aromatic with the slices of ginger taste had cover the clamp very well to overpower the smell of it and fried it very nice as we enjoy it very much.

BB Seafood (5)

'Stir Fried 3 Mix Bean with Dry Shrimp' that had makes me thought that what a simple dish it is but that proves me wrong always as simple dish is always nice which is very hard to cook, and the vegetable are very fresh with the beans are very crispy, ladies finger is very soft and abit gammy that the small shrimp saltiness is just right. RM 15

BB Seafood (6)

I would say this is the best of all, 'Mongolian Pork' which is deep fried yet the meat in it is very soft and was shower with the abit spicy, creamy and sour sauce on it. Goes very well with rice as every one is fighting for it. RM18 Its good and worth a try.

BB Seafood (7)

'Steam Fish' fish is rather normal as steam with soy sauce but the meat is soft that shows the sign of freshness. RM24

BB Seafood (8)

'Salted duck Egg Crab' I have never tried crab in salted duck egg version, turns out to be very shell licking good as I keep aiming to eat the left over small pieces of duck egg and the crab was fried in wok that make it all stick around the crab to very aromatic. RM 68

It was a great meal treated by Tatt as convenient for him to fly off after that and in that month itself he celebrated his b’day more than 5 times.

Restaurant Hoi Peng Seafood @ SS2

Posted by Taufulou | Labels: , , | Posted On Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at 11:04 PM

It was a great moment that my friend one of the K’s got promoted which is Kenji, congrats to you bro~. He was in very good mood so we all got to claim a meal from him. So he introduce us his heng tai’s restaurant which is located at SS2 and on that day I was on leave and went to find them for dinner. Ah boh then later kena complain.

'Fried House-Specialty Beancurd' if I am not wrong on the name. Something which is quite simple nothing much to comment on it.

'Sitr-Fried Young Choy Sum with Oyster Mushrooms' A simple stir fried veggie.

'Long Beans stir fried with mince pork and chili'. This would taste better compare to the other one. A bit salty if eat it pure like that but would taste good to eat along with rice.

'Deep Fried Squid'. The sotong didn’t deep fried well, abit soggy on certain pieces yet the dipping sauce was lack of taste.

'Ginger Lala'. I like this very much, its flavourful cuz it was fried with chinese rice wine.

For those who got flu, this would be a great dish to be ordered. 'Garlic Steam Fish' which was covered with a sea of chopped garlic. A bit garlic spicy but the fish is alright.

'Steam Prawn' was also with chinese rice wine. Flavourfull and the aroma was soak into the prawns.

'Dry Fried Prawns' was fried evenly and the prawns is fresh~

'Kam Hiong lala' wasnt very good as the could not taste the kam hiong flavor and it was quite salty.

This place as their signature is to go after Crab and the order came on of 'Butter Crab' lack of taste and fragrance.

'Sweet and Sour Crab' was not in your hit list. If were given a chance, we would want to avoid this dish.

The taste of this restaurant is so so only yet we find it very expensive as the total bill comes around RM677 included 5-6 bottles of large tiger beer. Most of us we will only come here once as because of Kenji yet with the price charge at that rate, we felt more like kena cham even though said heng tai's restaurant but not until that rate which we compare the big bottle of beer out in the market theirs was slightly higher and the food was nothing special. With that kind of price you can get a good meal already.

Fatty Crab Restaurant a.k.a Fei Lou Hai @ SS24

Posted by Taufulou | Labels: , , | Posted On Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at 10:34 PM

Out of nowhere my friend, suddenly suggest go eat Fei Lou Hai. Cuz she mention that has been long long time didnt go eat arleady. Her last visit was last year. My last was like about 1 year ago. It was a crave for them last year(their season) can say like the go every 2-3 weeks once but cannot be denied that the crowd there is always full. The best time to go is around 7pm and bad time to go is 7.30pm-9.00pm whereby you have to wait at least 30 minutes for a table(depends on the amount of ppl) usually big group have to wait longer.

This is their favourite 'Century Eggs' where they never miss. Taste good for this. Do not know how to describe. Know how to put into my mouth only for this 1. RM 6 each.

I still remember when I watch Fear Factor last year in AXN which this is one of the dish that they have to eat and that host was telling them that this egg had been stored for century already. It was funny that they way how he describe it but turns out to be one of the dish that we are eating today.

One of their famous 'Chicken Wings'. It was perfectly fried with golden brown layer and the softness of the meat in there is still been preserve. The taste goes very well with the cili sauce provided. RM 24 for this with 2 plates of the same amount(cannot remember how many pieces we ordered).

Knowing that we are all hungry people, so start off with 'Fried Rice' RM20 each for this and can you believe that it is a plate for 10 people to eat. After giving every one small bowl, it is just not enough. Can onli fit a small small portion in our stomac. So order another 1.
Never fail to order the 'R00oti Bakar', looks plain but sure do it is very crispy till like eating crackers on the edge, abit soft on the middle. RM1.50

The purpose of the roti bakar is to eat along with the gravy of the sweet and sour sauce. To make it more interesting and tasty, order a extra bowl of gravy and also request for the chili. Depends on your lvl of spiciness then you mix both of it into 1 bowl and eat along with the roti. Surely you will be satisfied.

Cheng cheng cheng...here comes the main dish of the night whereby every 1 look at it by licking their saliva in their mouth. The 'Sour and Spicy Crab' Then we were suddenly told to stop!!!

Yeong trying to check whether the crab is fresh or not by poking on it how she does it I have no idea but she sure do have her own skill as her parents used to run a restaurant before. After QC check got pass from the tester and the crab just gone in seconds.

Cannot be denied that they still have their quality there. The freshness of the crab whereby the meat is hard and u tear it out it is in slices. The gravy of it of course it is spicy, sweet and abit sour. As expected. You will suck every last drop of the gravy on the crab and on your finger but of course a bit disappointed of the size of the crab for that day. It is a bit small compare to last time. Maybe just the season.

Next is the 'Steam Crab' which I prefer the most. They add in some chinese wine, and the soup base that had been created out during the steaming process is very nice to be slurp with. You can taste the freshness of a crab in this steam style rather than the spicy and sour crab. Because that style can cover up some bad taste crabs. Total for the crab for 10 person is around RM224

Remarks:

Of course usually if you want to have fresh crabs, it is advisable to go as early as possible whereby they will take from the most fresh to start off with and to the worst. Go early is also to avoid the long wait.

The total bill comes to RM340 inclusive of 5% gov tax. The service is not bad with such a high pace environment they are able to provide you the things as requested.

A very satisfied meal.

Bali Hai Seafood Restaurant @ Gurney, Penang

Posted by Taufulou | Labels: , , , | Posted On Sunday, December 28, 2008 at 11:19 AM

This trip back to Penang I have not much time to hunt back my favourite food but manage to go for my favourite restaurant. Bali Hai @ Gurney. They had a few signature dish that I always would order. For those who are going to Penang for this festive season, MUST not miss this nice restaurant because they do serve fresh seafood, instead of most of the time, penangites will drive to Tambun for fresh seafood. This restaurant is another alternative.

This is the reastaurant outlook where you drive passby, will attract your attention because of its crowd and also their decoration as there are a few tables uniquely decorate and isolated from other table with the like of kampung, atap style infront of the restaurant.

This is whereby they store all the fresh seafood's.

Fresh lobster good in shasimi and cheeze baked. Mouth watering.....

More options to choose from, if you do not know how to choose fresh, just Tembak lah!!! or ask the person to assist~

This restaurant is usually damm packed on the weekend. If you decided to go around weekend or public holidays, the best time to reach is before 7.30pm. Easy parking inside the restaurant and easy table to get. If you reach after 8pm, ermmm..you can expect to wait a bit.

This is what me and my parents had ordered, 'Kam Hiong Lala(longer version)' Actually, this does not goes well with longer version and not a good combo of kam hiong with this. Usually I ordered in fried with chilies. Trying new taste. Definitely I ate most of it because of the nice taste. The lala also fresh.

This is their 'Signature Taufu'. Definitely must try. Inside the taufu are stuffed with small prawns or what we call 'heh bi'(hokkien) and it is fried and abit salty. It is very soft in the inside and very nice aroma of the 'heh bi', goes very well if you are eating with rice.

Wah!!! This is definitely my favourite dish. 'Wong Kam Har(prawn)' Whatever with Wong Kam defiantly taste nice. The lady ask us to try with the prawn after peel the skin. So decided to go along with it. But definitely does not really taste as nice with prawn with their shell. So therefore do not request to ask them to remove the prawn shell. Taste better with it. You can ask them to do 'Wong Kam Crab' and Wong Kam something something. It is also nice.

The taste of it, is just similar what I eat back in Melbourne, Chinatown which is the restaurant is called Desert House. Lol. For those who are in Melbourne you should know.

The taste of the Wong Kam is rich with century egg, butter smell, and when you lick it, the taste of butter and the century egg will just stick on your tongue and slowly melt. With saltiness yet the 'harumness' of the taste kam hiong leaves, you must just not miss this.

This is another one of my favourite dish. 'Curry Fish Head'. One of their signature also but to much disappointment, this usually I ordered it was very fresh and the curry is nice. Tonight, everything does not goes well, the curry taste weird like put in the fridge overnight and reheat it, the fish head is not fresh whereby the meat is hard. It is suppose to be soft and easy to slice it. Definitely I do complain 'kau kau' to the captain.

This restaurant worth to go, cuz they do have first class service, 3 table to 1 waiter/waitress. When ever your plate is dirty, they will directly change for you to a new plate. Five star service you can expect and the waiter and waitress there are definitely friendly. Suits my dad cuz he loves to talk alot to people.

If you had not a fresh seafood on that night, please do complain, as we do get RM40 off on our bill, whereby we just paid around RM96 after complain of the curry fish head. Cuz customer is their priority.

Location:

This restaurant is Located along Gurney whereby it is in the middle of that stretch.

If you coming from Gurney Hotel(left) go straight and after you see Pelita Mamak, slow down. It is nearby there

If you are coming from Gurney Plaza(right) you will have to past Silverton Condo, and bout 300Meter, it is just nearby there.
