Toast n Toast @ Jalan Melaka Raya, Melaka

Posted by Taufulou | Labels: , | Posted On Sunday, September 27, 2009 at 1:51 AM

The last foot that I step into Melaka was about 12 years back with my family. Been recently, that Melaka had changed a lot and reading a lot of people blog and great pictures about this place had make me curious about this historical city besides my very own hometown Penang.

Then got this opportunity to visit this place and drag along a few people down for the road trip. What I know also that this place is famous for its food. So a plan of food hunt begins from the very moment we set foot in this place. The very first stop for our breakfast.

Looks like another place of O-town but have its own style rather than alot of shops in KL with similar names. Paria betul.

A very simple and nice set up place.

With the historic of it.

A huge selection of toast and some hawker food available and they just order and order sounds like alot of food to eat till an extend I asked them, you guys can finish boh so many. Cannnnnnnn..don worry..~

'Fresh Lime' RM3.90. Need something to wake you up, this would be a great choice. Sour enough to change your face expression.

I have taste normal teh, but never thought of this teh taste a bit weird cuz they put in Gula melaka that makes it 'Melaka Teh'O' RM3.60

I used to hate cinamon till few years back, this had been my favourite in bread or toast. 'Cinamon Toast' enjoy this alot. RM1.80

If you need something to get you to go pang sai in the morning, 'Banana Toast' you can cosndier this. Fresh flavorful banana with nice and crispy toast and a layer of butter just makes you want to have 2nd plate. RM2.80

Being a fan of Otak-Otak, 'Otak Toast' will not be miss, taste weird on bread but its somethng new to me. RM3.90. Something worth a try.

'Peanut Butter Toast' is a classic for breakfast, which you shall not miss it to go along with a cup of Kopi. Wahh..stim~ RM1.80

If you like something to much in the morning, then 'Crunchy Toast' is something you must order. RM2.80
Great peanut taste, with butter base ended up we crave for more.
Something like Old Town. 'Egg Toast' is well maitain in the half boil egg. Will wet your mouth through. RM2.80
'Curry Chicken Bread'. We loved the curry chicken very much, quite mild yet a bit of santan taste and not too thick in curry sauce is just perfect to dip with bread. RM3
'Americian Breakfast Set' RM6.90 add 'Ham' RM3

I would say, the price justify the amout given.

'Tomyam' erm, just not the right thing to eat for breakfast. After trying out sweet and abit curry stuff just that my taste bud doesnt accept this taste. Taste so so only for this. RM7.90

After eating and some of them after smoke, we were all very full and satisfied. A great start of they day. Surely, this place is Recommended by me for breakfast. I even miss it on the 2nd day.

Lao Qian Ice Cafe, Jonker @ Lorong Hang Jebat, Melaka

Posted by Taufulou | Labels: , | Posted On Thursday, September 24, 2009 at 4:51 PM

Of course after lunch, I will always make noise for desert. Choe told me, don worry, its just directly opposite. By reading in Melaka also famous for Durian Chendol, she told me that this is the best place to go.

Being weekend, every where is just damm packed with people.

In the menu, surely its my type of preference filled with desert.

The rest waiting and camwhore abit. Then the next shelf to us is the place selling sweets and local snacks. Ended up Kenji bought a big Lolipop.

'Durian Springy Dumpling' caught my attention. I think whatever with durian I am just going to order. RM2.50

Cold skin and soft texture had make you bite like cotton and its not durian purree its like durian kuih inside. To me its like eating durian Kuih in cold version.

'Refreshing Essence Lime with Liquorice' RM3.90. By the name is self already proof its a refresing drink. Totally recommend this for such a hot weather.

Jeng Jeng Jeng...here comes one of the local favourites enjoyed by alot of people. 'Durian Cendol' RM5.80. Its refreshing soft icy that will just melt in your mouth and the best thing is the keharum'ness of the durian they added in is just veli good ah. Abit bitter in taste that goes along with the sweetness of it. Just perfect.

We ordered another bowl and told Jonathan that we wanted to add more durian in there, then he told us they say cannot add. DOWN!

Then I went out, saw this this stall looks quite tempting and buy 1 piece only. The promotion is buy 5 free 1 if not mistaken. Since I cannot finish and just wanted to try out 1 only.

The fish is call 'Amoy'. hahha... means girl?

Insert with kaya, and its best to eat while its warm. RM1.50 per piece.

Camwhore session, have you ever seen a ghost licking lolipop... ?

tu dia... Karen looks like a ghost in this pic. :P

Me trying my best~

This stall is located opposite the Chicken rice ball.

If you are looking for other sweets to buy, this is the shop to go. Directly inside the cafe.

A great place for the desert.

Kedai Kopi Chung Wah, Chicken Rice Ball @ Jonker Street, Melaka

Posted by Taufulou | Labels: , | Posted On at 4:51 PM

An hour after our breakfast and check-in into hotel, headed to this placed called Jonker's walk area. To try out the Chicken Rice ball. A thing that was told must not miss.

When we reach there, the crowd is just so gilar.. a bunch of people waiting outside including us under the hot sun. Luckily, we did not wait long to be seated inside. This picture of queing is after our meal. Siau..even people take umbrella to que.

The ah pek never stop chopping on the chicken.

The reason of so many people waiting outside is the shop have limited space.

What I have been told by my friend, that the chili here is very nice. Me being want to try on everything, so just take lah~

The most famous thing in this shop is the 'Rice Ball'. I find it its quite sticky, yet tasteless. If it was abit dry and flavourful, surely it would be nice.

The chicken chop till so geli and was inform that the ah pek had help us to remove the bone. Nothing special on the chicken to comment about.

This shop is nothing special about it which I feel, there is other chicken shop in KL or PG taste much better than this. Just that its in Rice ball form but one of the most famous shop around the area. What I feel on this shop is OVERRATED!

Street Food @ Jonker's Walk, Melaka Part 1

Posted by Taufulou | Labels: , | Posted On at 4:50 PM

We are so full till walk is also a problem. Then after coming out from the desert shop, a ah pek selling 'Pumpkin Cake' caught my attention. Some more the ah pek was telling me, I must eat. If I don eat I will regret, then I ask the ah pek. SO hoh liau boh..?? he said Guarantee hoh liau! If boh hoh jiak, money back. I was like...wah, so geng boh. Okay la. I grab 2 piece. One with chili and 1 without.

Looks like 'Chai Tau Kuih' but doesnt taste similiar. The one with chili sauce taste nicer. Soft texture yet orangy yellowish in the inside, and the taste is there. Would say its the best but its above average. Supporting ah pek under the hot sun, well I would say worth it.

Walk walk walk down the street, then Karen was like...woiii..I want to buy this. Icy cool like ice blended on the street with fruits flavour.

got passion fruit, mango, watermelon and other fruits available Only RM2.50 for a cup of street ice blended. Its cheap I would say.
Sip and sip under the hot sun walking this street is just no complain.

Then the shop next to the ice blended stall, the aroma of fried cempedak fly me to this stall. The Keharum'ness of the smell is just fantastic.

'Fried Cempedak' yit lat lat from the kuali....just cant wait to salivate it. Still so full yet hiau, so bought a piece from the ah ma. Smell nice but doesnt taste good. Kena con by the aroma. RM0.60
