Pre Valentine Dinner @ Alexis Bistro & Wine Bar @ Jln Ampang

Posted by Taufulou | Labels: , , , | Posted On Saturday, February 14, 2009 at 2:08 AM

A dinner that I am looking forward for with my close friend of all. With the dinner arrangement that I have made, she thought of changing places and agreed with her. As the place I have not been before. We have the same taste and thoughts on things like food, fashion and others. That is why, this dinner is special. When I reached there, I thought that the restaurant was closed for private functions with huge black curtain covered up the whole entrance and have to try to peek in there is it available. Then just walk in and found our reservation and to my surprise, it was like a VIP seats to me. The first row in the middle directly in front of the band, stage area. I am just enjoying my moment there. As I read on the card on the table that tonight there will be a Jazz band playing in there by 'Zailan Razak Project'. Not too fancy about jazz but definitely I go along with the flow like I am not a fan of Kenny G but a good sleeping doze.

With their nice dim lighting's and a candle light on the table, makes it a very nice environment to celebrate a special occasion with some one special or close friend. With its nice and romantic environment, the area had change to a better lighting where after 10pm they have make the lights to the dimmest and make sure that the place you are seating is the candle light shining on the table.

This was the original booking area with the seats on the sofa, but I sure do not have complain on my current seating's.

Here comes the food that we choose. Start of with this drink called 'Baby Love'. A very nice drink I would recommend, with taste of oranges mix with some raspberry and it is priced at RM19

Start off with soup of the day was 'Mushroom Soup'. A very very good mushroom soup. They blend the mushroom in there and cooked in it. The soup was not too thick or watery and was not too salty. Perfectly cook with strong taste of the mushroom. As it added some olive oil and need not add any more papper or black papper. Serve with a piece of Garlic Bread. The waiter was good in arranging it as I ordered one serving and he divided to 2 servings. The soup is price at only RM15

Started the main course with 'Chic Escalope'. I was complaining when I saw the serving. 'Ha...Just like dat ah'. Never mind. Try first. Please do not look down on it. The taste was absolutely good. Nice and deeply fried, and the crust of the chicken taste so nice as it is covered with garlic, herbs and you squeeze the lemon on it. Just perfectly go along with the added sour taste to bring up the flavour of the herbs and garlic. It was just perfectly cook with golden brown colour crust. Crispy on the side soft on the inside. Not bad for the pricing, RM 35

This is the second order. 'Lamb Rack'. When it was served out, I told my friend, 'Aiya, how to fit my stomach, so small only. Sei!!! in my thought'. With is high pricing, I believe it would have something special on it as I order it Medium Rare. Please let me tell you, when I was cutting it, I could feel the meet was juicy and soft and cut into small pieces and one for me and the other one for my friend to try also. She started first and she keep nodding her head. Means it is good. The meat is so soft and along with some of the lamb fats, it just melts with the gravy along with it. Not near to a steak but for lamb, it is just good. Served with Some pumpkins and garlic kangkung if not mistaken but I still think it is over priced. RM63

After main course, I must have desert. It is my culture. To close the meal of the day with satisfaction with the sweet, sour, salty and bitter. When to proceed to the ordering of the desert I was very disappointed as our favourite Tiramisu was sold out as it is their signature cake. Can said that one of the best I have tried so far. So ended up ordering another alternative which was choose by my friend. It is 'Zucotto Dome'. A great cake. With the walnut flakes and pieces with its soft sponge cake in it and covered with the fresh cream(not too strong taste of milk, perfect taste for cakes) and the end of the tip with some chocolate chip pieces. The first bite of the cake, melts in your mouth, as the fresh cream just melted and the sponge cake which is so soft makes your closing of the meals perfect. RM 11

With the cake been served, must not miss their 'Cafe Mocha' which I crave into. With the bitter sweet taste and sugarless, it taste the best, she cannot take without sugar so I put in two brown sugar cubes. A perfect taste for it. With the cakes and coffee. Great combo to go along. Of course with cappuccino or latte that is the best but mocha. Is just as good as ever. RM 10.

After the Jazz band started they do not served free water anymore. Purchase one and it is RM13 for 1 bottle of mineral water 'Still' of 500ml. 'What the heck!'. The bottle looks unique.Did not know until paying the bills.

This was the jazz band of the night, 'Zailan Razak Project'. One of the bass guitarist is a ex lecturer of local university around the year of 2002. Great band.

Do not say that this guy is old. He is Luiz Prakasam(hopefully I spelled correct). A great drummer I would say, as the bass guitarist mention that he had played in Europe, other parts of the world and for a great jazz band.

A special appearance of 'Dia Fadilah'(hopefully I spelled Correct), which I do not know who is that but she is a great live performance singer. She has a good voice.

With one of the best night ever, with a nice romantic surroundings and a great live band to look for, what can I ask for more.

~Happy Valentine's Day~

With great staff services and live band with romantic surroundings, the total bills comes to RM190. I would say, reasonable.

I was brought by my friend to this what I called High Class Tim Sum. My first time in such dining for breakfast. Was drag up by my friend saying that bring me to a nice place for dim sum and just go loh.. Ended up here. Well, we came pretty early and the pathway to this restaurant it seems like the my house. No one is walking around, just US!! Then till the restaurant, EMPTY for the whole area. Then my friend prank me, I book the whole area ma. Don't you know that~ In my dreams. The restaurant is very nicely renovated with classy interior and dim lights. It is so comfortable that once your ass is on the chair, it is glued with it. Would not really want to walk away. Then it was like the whole restaurant waiter and waitress are ready to serve us cuz we were the only customer that time. Wow!! what a service that they providing. The crowd starts pouring in after 12pm, I was there at 11am and alot of Datuk's and Datin's came here for their breakfast or what I would say Brunch....

I was the only one with camera, and all the people stare at me like a monkey with a camera what is this person trying to do. No picture please! this kind of feel.

Well, once you are seated they serve you this walnut. Taste good. *beware it is piousness Once eaten will never stop.

This is what I called 'Hong Kong Chee Cheong Fan' (fried version)but here is name as 'CCF' on the receipt. Do not know what the hell it means. Very very nice. The skin is crispy on the outsite and inside it is soft with steam type. The filling is with Char Siew. Highly recommended also. RM 11.50

My tim sum will always never miss a few dish, the 'Steamed Pork Buns' aka 'Char Siew Pau'. The bun is nicely steam and the filling is good. The mince meet is juicy, blacky enough and very nice char siew taste. RM 9 for this.

Must not miss No.2 'Siew Mai' The top of the siew mai is with the egg roe where you can find it in the sushi. You can just feel the pork ah,soft and not too thick the feeling. Mix with 'Tim cheong' very nice. RM10

Wanted to have "loh mai kai' they do not serve so ended up ordering this one. 'Glutinous Rice' Which I never finish, only eat 3 bites cuz my friends they don eat. It is salty and aroma doesnt taste good. Maybe not my type but what I have eaten in Melb is far big difference. (Cannot compare then).RM14

Must not miss no.3 'Chicken Feet'. Not Happy Feet the show. It is a bit spicy, the skin of the chicken leg is alright, would not order again my next visit. Not my type of taste for this one. RM9

My friend ordered this 'Lunar Cakes'. It is friend. For me I can manage to eat 1 whole piece. More than that please kill me. A bit sweet. Taste nice. Must be shared with more people only taste better. My most preferred for this is that my mom always did it for me, whereby steam it, then mix it with coconut. Wow, that will be so nice compare to this(my preference)RM10

They introduce the speciality of the desert here which is tadaaa...'Avocado Cream' yucks..I hate avocado but surprisingly in this I took it. Taste nice and sweet, so smooth like eating Gelato ice-cream. Highly recommend on this desert. Will never be perfect if not desert to end with.
RM 12
The whole bills come in total of RM 116 including tea, taxes and service charge. For such a location I think it is reasonable and with their service they are providing. Would rate them 1st class.

Station 1 Cafe @ Jaya One

Posted by Taufulou | Labels: , , | Posted On at 4:13 PM

Do not know what to eat then just chin chai stop by at Jaya One to have dinner. Having troubles in choosing the restaurant also, so ended up went to Station 1 Cafe. If I am not mistaken, it is a newly open cafe as there are alot of flowers given to the shop and displaying all outside of it. This place is nicely renovation, very comfortable for a drink and yum cha, you can get beers by watching football and listening to people singing.

Presenting you the menu.

In the menu, what caught my attention was the promotion of the 'Chicken Chop' covers the whole page. Thought it would be nice so give it a try. The chicken is nicely grilled, some of the parts are a bit crispy, the sweet corn is the nicest of all as it uses steam, the mash potato tasted weird as it taste like the water paip taste. The coleslaw is missing some salt. The gravy totally not nice. If they improve their gravy, I would high recommend this dish.It cost RM13.90

This is the 'Fish Ball Beehoon Soup'. Not a big bowl but certainly good for girls on diet. When it was serve, what shock me was the colour of the soup. Looks a bit like serve from longkang but then when you taste it, it is very tasty. The fish ball is very soft and have mince meet in it. The look like fish slice(never like it) but this definitely taste nice and soft. This is better than my chicken chop.

New Paris Restaurant @ SS2

Got invited by Lucia to join dinner with her friends at SS 2. Did not know this place exist even used to stay at my aunts place nearby. I was so surprise with the crowd in this restaurant. So crowded and so pack of people. It is like, 'Welcome, Only RM 15p/pax eat all you can' that kind of crowd. I was already late 30 mins for the dinner and hell!!! to find a parking spot in the area is not easy. After round and round 2 rounds then round back in front of the restaurant and so ngam nice nice got 1 parking spot can fit in my small car. Lucky me~

This is Lucia and Malcom her friend which is always standby anytime and any where, with your camera ready to snap, they are ready instantly even they are still chatting. Lol. After snapping they are back to their conversation~ This is downstairs + outside of the restaurant.

We were gladly sitting upstairs with air conditioning.

Started of with 'Salmon Lou Sang'. The salmon is so so, not that fresh yet not that hard to eat. With the sauce and everything pour in, it taste good, not too sweet for the sauce and salty and with some of the oil and spices, just ngam ngam. Nice lou sang. Did not put the after effect of the lou sang as it was too messy. Censored~

This dish don know called what as the order are all done by Malcom. When I was there, the food was like served instantly. Not much taste on this veggie. Can't really taste the garlic also but the veggie is nicely fried.

This is the veggie with long beans fried with eggplant, mince meet and some tiny shrimps. It taste a bit spicy, but goes well along with the taste of sambal and the petai. The taste nicely covered the petai smell not that strong on it.

This is the Chicken in don know what, one of the famous dish in the restaurant as I did observe alot people ordered it. Was nicely cook, abit of sweet watermelon taste, the chicken is nicely cook and the mean is soft like steam and fried chicken.

This is their signature Taufu. It is very soft and the mince meet is a bit salty. Perfectly goes along with the taufu as it is nicely fried.

I must say that, this is the best dish of all night. The fish is nicely steam out, the meat is so soft and the fish is very fresh goes along very well with the gravy similar to soy sauce. Do not know what type of fish is this but it is very nice. Should try it out.

This is the 'Pai Kuat' cuz extra order it when i was there. The pork is very soft in it and the gravy is a bit sweet and sour.

This is the receipt for the whole course meal. The receipt comes in a total of RM198 shared among 8 people. The price is so so for the food they provide. The service is good as there are alot of worker standing by nearby. The dish name is in Chinese totally do not know how to read it. The whole experience was nice to meet you guys~

Nagomi Shabu-Shabu @ Jaya 33

Posted by Taufulou | Labels: , , , , | Posted On Friday, February 6, 2009 at 2:42 AM

It was raining a few days ago and since it is still in Chinese New Year mood, deciding to eat someting warm with soup. So ended up here where I can think off. This is my second visit here.

This is the bar area or I would name it 'Soup refill center'.

The interior of the restaurant was nicely renovated with a very nice standard area for having shabu shabu.

Not much choice to choose from in the menu compare to other Japanese restaurant and to come here it is mainly for their Shabu Shabu.

This is how the soup been poured into the pot like some mini tab water flowing.I chose the soup 'Nagomi' which is a clear soup as my friend can't take spicy. Chose it because the same name of the restaurant and assume it is their signature soup. Actually, the clear soup is taste nothing special, just a normal soup can be done. I would not recommend this soup again but for those who are sick will be a good recommendation. Can try Spicy as previously I was having Spicy soup.

A glass of green tea RM2.50

Ordered this 'Wantan Cheese Furai'. The name attracted me to order it and to my surprise it was pretty small in portion with a total of 9 pieces all together. This cost RM 10.

Well, this is how the cheese got squeeze out from the wantan. Mozzarella cheeze? no idea. Still cheeze, believe it is similar to those in Steven corner cheeze nan.

The 3 different sauce, the first(from left) soy sauce, don know what chili sauce and don know what peanut sauce(taste the nicest among 3)

This was my Shaby Shaby order. All comes with 1 plate of veggie.

I have ordered 'Duck Shabu Shabu'. If you guys can take beef, please go for the beef. It taste much nicer compare to chicken or duck. The meat was thinly slice where you can just take your chop stick and stir it once in the hot soup it will be ready to eat. This duck cost RM31+veggie

Then there will be a waiter to come help you out to do the stir the meet in the middle of the duck shabu shabu. This is how the process goes.

The nicely done 4 not so big meat balls in the middle of the plate. Thanks to the staff there.

This is the pot of veggie and duck meat after I have put in half of the portion.

Order another this which looks unique, so this is 'Ebi Tempura Maki' only 4, Yes and only 4. It have friend prawn tempura, fish egg, cucumber and don know what veggie. The taste is fresh and nice with the super cutting of the thiny cucumber slice and goes along very well with the wasabi and it was so spicy and i was tears dripping each bite. RM15

While waiting for the second round to be cook and I realise someting of the chopstick cover. It can be turn into..............

Chopstick holder. Just follow on the steps behind the cover. You can make it.
The service there was so so and the food quality not bad I would say.
The total bills comes into RM70.15 including service charge and service tax. The pricing is above average I would say for the total experience.
