Restaurant Bak Kut Teh Kim In @ Sri Petaling

Posted by Taufulou | Labels: , , , , | Posted On Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at 1:10 PM

On lunch time, Karen took her car for tyre repair around that area, and we wanted to go for another restaurant but it was close on that day. Lazy to walk around so we thought of pick this shop.

This shop, no matter how many times we pass by, the business is always either empty or a few tables in the afternoon, not too sure at night.

Order the usual for a Bak Kut Teh meal which is must have:

'Vegetable' which mild in taste that covered with the fried garlic and some oyster sauce. Nothing to comment on.

'Taufu' as it was soak with the soup base yet you can taste quite heavy of the taufu skin taste which had overpower the soup base.
The main 'Mix of Bak Kut Teh' which include alot of pig spare part. The soup base is very mild in taste as we taste a bit more of soy sauce rather than the original soup taste and its quite disappointing. The pork meat in there is not soft yet some part you have to chew quite long like bubble gam.

The price for this lunch is around RM55 for 4 person which I think is the market price..

We were suppose to head to a RM2 vegetarian shop but mana tau, as my friend said maybe bankrupt or move to a new place already. So head to the shop on the next road.

It is quite alot of people during lunch time.

The choices were quite okay.

The dish that I took was not bad, better than a few I have tried before. The price is quite cheap too. I took 3 dishes and a herbal drink RM4.50.

Restaurant Fast Food Fish Head @ Sri Petaling

Again, my food partner in crime the double K’s had kidnap me to this restaurant which we were lost of idea of what to eat. I was like ha..sri petaling again ah * in my heart.. but with their taste butt similar to mine I have nothing much to complain about as it’s a new place for me.

When I enter this restaurant I was like.. wahhhhh…this shop sell food or sell fish? With loads of fish pictures paste on the wall and get to know that, this restaurant is famous for their river fish fresh capture from Pahang.

I have no idea what they order but it’s the usual that we would go for. ‘Ku Lou Yuk’ is deeply fried with crispy outside in and the sauce is just amazing that with a eating it with rice would be a perfect companion.

‘Kang Kung Sambal’ well fried that still preserving the freshness of the veggie and it is not spicy yet showered with a few big prawns just add in the extra flavour.

If this is not mistaken, this is their ‘Special Home Made Taufu’ which we love it a lot. Very soft till like it melts in your mouth and with the mince meat and soy sauce make it a perfect combination.

I have no idea what fish is this, as I have been told that my responsibility is to eat all the food. As the fish just came out from the steam, it is detected that the fish looks very good. The meat is soft yet delicate showing the sign of freshness.

I am very satisfied with the lunch with the price is being very reasonable, although there is only 3 tables occupied in the restaurant and my friend told me that, at night you can forget coming here. Lots of people.

If you are looking for tai chow which is nice, this shop should not be miss. Regarding on the pricing, I did not have the receipt as it was treat by one of the manager. Surely I would be returning to this shop for its other dish.

It was lunch and my friend mention that, he saw this shop having promotion in an advertorial paper and since the pictures in the cutting looks tempting, of course do not mind to try out.

When I went in there, it looks more like a pub with karaoke session converted to restaurant or maybe afternoon serves food at night served alcohol.

All set lunch ranges from RM6.90-RM15.90

All the set lunch comes with mango juice which is so thick of coloring.

in my order, this is ‘Tomyam Fried Rice’ which I always fancy to a nice 1 but this had far disappointed me. Tasteless yet salty. None of the thai or tomyam spices were detected.

Among all the meal, this would be the not bad among all those and with the price tag on it so okay la. Cuz the chicken didn’t fried very good, is the sauce that is not bad pull up the value of it and the fried rice, just hopeless.

This is the ‘Yee Mee’, too much soy sauce detected which makes it salty and with the quality of the food and condition, shall just ignore.

Look like wire on the backyard and the sauce is little yet too starchy with the ingredient added on speechless.

'Sweet and Sour Pork’ none of the taste detected, just feel more like tomato sauce pouring in.

Got a request by my friend asking me fast fast to post this up but then I said wait for a moment till this moment came to post on bad food have eaten for the week. The worst part is the attitude or the person serving us is terrible and with the face like we owe her 100k. So we ended up fast fast eat and cabut and ta pau something else to eat. Will never return.

Fusion Haven Cafe & Rest @ Sri Petaling

Posted by Taufulou | Labels: , , | Posted On Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at 1:00 AM

I feel that this time lunch is pretty funny, that my Indonesian friends came visit over for holiday then I asked them what they want to eat for lunch, then they said, come I bring you go one place which is not bad. Then I was like ‘uh uh…how u guys know?’ they were like one of her friends bring them there. I was like okay loh~ you guys bring me there then~

So I ended up in Sri Petaling, and this shop is so hard to find. Kinda ‘terpencil’ if you never see it clearly. Will miss out.
They have a not bad environment, which I feel that it’s a combo of Kopitiam and Nyonya style. Pretty cozy and the best thing is during lunch time, the whole restaurant is only 1 table.

Saw on their walls that they did feature in Star News paper b4. Thought that the food sure would be good, if not wont be in the papers.

They have wide selection of food fusion food, from local delicacies to Western and even Italian. One thing I sure know that, the food decoration in the pictures were impressive.

So my drinks for the day, I am going for 'Honey Lemon' RM3.50. I feel that, the honey that they are using taste abit weird, and the combination of the lemon makes the whole drink doesn’t go along. Maybe they use the wrong honey but no complain. Still acceptable.

My friends order were the 'Kimuchi Ommelet' which they had tried on the previous meal then they said that it’s nice. The look of it is simple or consider normal and after trying the first bite, just got to know that it taste of soy sauce cover all the flavour. Taste more like drinking soy sauce rather than eating. The amount of Chinese sausage in it was pretty generous but still, it’s a bit disappointed by it and cost RM6.90

Here comes my order which is a Set Lunch menu 'Crispy Chicken' that cost RM 7.90. The whole presentation of the food is impressive as seen in the pictures but only item that doesn’t make me impress is the fried chicken. Look too deep fried so give them chance lah. Maybe good lei, never try never know.

Just that sometimes the look of the food can be pretty sure to be judge that its nice or not. It was true that the fried chicken was too deeply fried and it was a bit too crispy. For old ppl with fake teeth to bite on it sure will go a bit senyek or dented. The meat is too meaty and dry.

The banana fritters is soggy. The rice is quite salty because of their poring of soy sauce. Thank god that it was serve average size portion. If it was serve big, surely it will be a waste.

When we are about to leave it was already 1.30 and was there for 1 hour. Till we left there were only another 2 tables were we occupying. If there is still not many customers in the restaurant you know what to expect already even though they had been feature in newspaper.

All bills will be charge 10% service charge

With their food decoration, taste and the pricing. I just feel its okay. Nothing fancy.

Kedai Makanan Ming Kee @ Sri Petaling

Posted by Taufulou | Labels: , , | Posted On Sunday, June 21, 2009 at 5:48 PM

One fine afternoon, after hard work in the morning, then my friends brought me to this place to makan. They know I like to eat, so whenever they can will just kidnap me along. It has been 1 week eating 3 times chicken rice. I think there is a trend for it. When ppl crave for it, will just go in a row. Not me lei~ especially chicken rice.

We reach the shop kinda early so there were many table available. It was a bloody hot day so we choose to sit in the air condition area.

Ask them what is nice, so the usual what is available in the chicken rice shop.

Then the ‘Char Siew Wan Tan Mee’ The base that they are using is quite salty, not my choice, but with the rich texture and some fats on the outer layer of the char siew makes it deliciously good. A few pieces is good, but too many I feel its out of taste. The noodle is normal, not as springy as you can get in other stalls.

The ‘Sui Kau’ is kinda big. Filled with compact pork and prawns in it. It looks like the economical pack but then was not the best.
The total tat we eat for 5 person is around RM35 which including drinks. I feel its kinda cheap. Economical. No wonder that as we were bout to leave the restaurant, the ppl just pouring in. It was full till there are ppl waiting outside to look for tables. Maybe it was lunch time during weekdays. So guess that its normal to have good crowd.

AL Diafah @ Sri Petaling, Part 1

Posted by Taufulou | Labels: , , , | Posted On Friday, April 24, 2009 at 12:57 AM

For the first time I have to skip my posting that I MUST post this up first. Was very impress with the restaurant, and also the people from Egypt.

I got very very surprise that in Sri Petaling, there is actually 1 nice Arab restaurant here. Well, if you are nearby here, surely this shop will caught your attention as can consider one of the most good looking shop here during at night. Have to come here is because of company VIP client from Egypt that requested want to dine Arab food. So this is where my ah tau have arrange.

What I mean handsome of course by its outlook more yeng than any of the shops beside la..

When you walk in you will saw this miniature camel on the bottom left then house on top of it and also house next to the top right and of course the antique or signature look of Arab dining accessories.

There is 2 ways you can go up to the restaurant. 1. would be the Lift. 2.Exercise-climbing up the stairs. So I decided to do option 2 cuz I was impress by their own interior decoration full with wall painting, vase, tea pot like the Ali Baba style.. What I could not find is the Gennie in the bottle look thing. Sure I do would like to have my 3 wishes and were walking up you already got 50% of Arab feeling.

When I reached the restaurant I was like wowwww...in my heart. What a nice place that they had change the whole shop to be. All the walls full with different kind of utensils, kitchenware and others.

Alot of collection around the area whereby you can just walk around and look if there is not customer on their respective table. When I arrive I am still able to do that.

It was quite empty during that day, but as it is getting late the crowd start to pour in but most of the customer are from Middle East. The ambiance is surely good.

I don know what is this called but just took a pic as it was just right beside me.

Then of course all of the dining table is full with this tea pot. It is something very unique and to pour the water you have to push the top tip down in order to be able to let the water flow out. Something like a gun, you have to lift up the pin in order to shoot. Was wondering am I able to bring that pot back.

This is the menu which suits with the restaurant ambiances.

Looking at the menu, I look at the pictures to judge what food I want to eat for the night. It seems like everything is yummy and the choices is alot.

So we start off the night with our drinks which is from top left to right

Aden Tea
: taste more like teh halia. Nothing special. so RM10 for this.
Mix Fruit : Did not taste cuz was ordered by the Egyptians RM10
Ice Lemon Tea: uniquely from left is the sugar syrup, then next is the lemonade juice and only reach the pot of Ice Tea. It is for you to mix and match your own style of the taste. Be a mini table bar tender for the night. RM 10 for this.
Carrot Juice: is normal carrot juice. Nothing special RM10
There are another 4 more drinks that they ordered which is more unique that they recommend but I cant just go there and took all the pic because it was company VIP client. So just can took what is around me.
When I first stare at this it looks more like a bun to me but it is what they said high premium bread which I think its Pita Bread, compare to what they had in their home country. We were taught how to eat this with the rest of the entree on the table.

The first lesson of the night was to peal the pita bread then make it like a V shape in order for us to dip into the entree and hook some of the sauce up with the ingredient so that you can get to taste more of it.

Instead of what I always do is peel, then just deep and hantam the rest of it like a hungry person.

So end up all our meals were ordered by the Egyptian as they recommend what is good and famous back in their home country. So we just follow the flow for the night.

Start the first entree for the night. At first glance, I thought it was a tuna spread but turns out to be a 'Baba Ghanough' its a mixture of don know what in there but it taste real good when you eat it with the bun you would want a second piece. RM12

ahhh...haaa..This really looks like yogurt. It is some kind of cream which I do not know what it is just eat accordingly. It is also to eat along with the bread. 'Tahina Sauce' RM5

All time not my favourite 'Pickled Vegetable' RM5 each. I have try my best on tasting it but still yucks!
'Lentil Soup' RM 8 Do not have a chance to try this as it was one of the client who ordered it.Haih...
This is what I called the Arab Karipop.. It is actually 'Sambosa Lamb' RM10

This is what it looks like on the inside, were very nicely chopped into very mini pieces and while you eat it, you can just taste the lamb taste very nice and perfect with the Tahina sauce given. Due to limited pieces I could not have 2.

To me this is more like a mixture of self mix of everything. It is a bit cold but the taste a bit spicy, sour and mild good to eat with rice as side dish or with pita bread. Taste someting like we used to eat when we took nasi Briyani but of course taste much better.

'Mixed Vege Chicken Tagen'. A very unique pot they have come along with it but the best thing is after so many donkey years that I left high school science lab and at last I get to see it again a 'Pununu Buncen' was there burning to make sure that the dish is kept warm and abit boiling.

It taste more like a Minestrone Soup. Just that the taste in it not as strong as that. It is mild. The texture of the soup is not too thick and too watery. Eat perfectly good with pita bread or with the Al-Diafah rice. I was enjoying my dish with both ways and also recommend my friend to try it. RM15

The other dish which I did not manage to snap the pic but the client want us to try is the 'Fried Lamb Meat,Liver and Kidney' which once I had a mouth of it, I wanted to ask for more. The Highly Recommend by me. RM35

The other one would be 'Potato Chicken Tagen'. The chicken was well cook to softness and not very spicy but taste very mild. Perfect to eat with the rice for a good dish opener. RM15
'Mixed Grill' was highly recommended by the client, mentioning we should not miss this. So my friend she ordered this with a mixture of Lamb,Chicken and Beef(if not mistaken). Although it is a bit too dry for the lamb but the aroma is there. If were abit juicy, wow, it just taste perfect. The chicken is tenduri chicken, so nothing much to comment on that as it taste normal and lastly it was a roll of beef which taste so soft and tender, taste like specially marinated. The best of all compare to the other 2. RM35

'Madby Lamb' which is also highly recommend by the client. Which I totally agree with him. Although it is not very big place and the lamb is only 4 pieces which honestly cant really even fill my stomach if there were no pita bread entree.

The lamb was well marinated, and the taste of the lamb smell is not strong which some people don like and I prefer the taste or smell is stronger. The meat was grilled to perfection, juicy and soft which again were thought to use hand instead of cutleries. Finish my dish and I was hunting for more, look at my friend's dish see whether I can try to taste her portion. RM35

'Grilled Prawn' RM45 Never had a chance to try this but it sure do look very good and taste nice as the feedback came over that the prawn is very fresh.

'BBQ Chicken-AL Diafah Rice' The chicken taste normal, nothing much to comment. To me it is more like a tendori chicken. RM20

'AL Diafah Rice' The rice is very very nice. The taste of it and the aroma when you eat it with the main dish or the entree you eat. It goes along very well. Was not too dry or oily. RM7

'Ping Pong' By the name itself it sure do sounds very funny. The 2 desert was highly recommend by the client saying that we must try and insist we must. I always thought that their desert would be very sweet but then turns out to be not. But to me after heavy eating I feel that I cant really taste this desert, taste more like the stall at Pavilion selling yau char kuai with the ball ball thing. Taste not much different. RM6

When I saw this, I was very happy, I thought it was Cinamon stick. Turns out to be not. It is someting soft soft do not really know how to describe. It is 'Tamaribnd' RM6

While we were eating the client was telling us about some culture exchange of what they have and adopt in Egypt that I want to post it as another part as I find it very interesting. Part 2, coming soon.

I must seriously say that Egyptions, they are a good food eater. They just eat and eat alot. After all the food on the table, they went off to another table to enjoy themself with a cup of tea and desert.

Because of their very good service, and ambience and the food quality not the very best, they deserve it which I also think that their pricing is okay. Total bill came out to RM415
