Pasar Malam @ Sri Petaling

Posted by Taufulou | Labels: , | Posted On Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 12:32 AM

Pasar malam used to be one of my favourite past time during college day's and was looking for my friend at Sri Petaling so I asked him go where makan he suggest pasar malam. Stim~~~~
Thinking back in college days, me and my housemate will each take out RM15 then one person will carry the cash all night long. What ever we come across in that stall, just buy only 1 and share by the 3 of us. It is like I 1 mouth, you 1 mouth and the other guy 1 mouth. Our culture is as we walk we eat and see. Lol. Those were the days~~

As I walked around, then find this stall like got raided by lots of people.'Curry Fish Ball' But I manage to open my leg kang kang and ask them all go away...let me take my pic..lol!! Just so coincidence when I reached it was only us. So manage to take pic of the stall and it is very cheap!~!~!~
RM 1 per stick! Sial betul. If compare to the one I ate in HK of course its like heaven and earth.

This is what the ah pek explained to me. 'Boy, you want very spicy or non spicy' (feel happy, call me boi)From left to right, [Very Spicy], [Tomyam], [Spicy] and [Non Spicy-Black Pepper]

I only grab 2 cuz my friend don want. Celaka!!!! So I grab the very spicy which is I found it not as spicy as he mention, and black pepper totally not my type.

Food rating 6.5/10 , Okay ~ -Stamped-

Then came by this stall, 'Char Koey Teow' and seems like having very good business, so early yet the tables are all occupied and he was so busy goreng'ing so try loh~ The uncle also like to take pic, got distracted when I was taking him goreng'ing.

Now is is paying full attention on it as I was making sure he cooked mine properly.

When it got served I was abit shocked as I got charged RM4 and keep looking where is my prawn. Then the uncle told me that if I want prawn need to inform them. I was like 'huhhhh'!! Feel that it is kinda pricey with all the si ham they give me and I don really eat Si Ham...aiii.....
The food was well friend. Not bad. Just that if he fried the koay teow dry abit would be perfect.

Food rating 7/10 , Good ~ -Stamped-

Ahhh ha...this is one of my very favourite stall for 'Tong Sui'. Forgot to take the pic of the stall cuz it was taken by my friend as he wanted to play with my camera. I thought he did take the whole thing but turns out to be the sign board only. aiii..I forgot to check.
Then there is one guy that asking how is the business from the auntie as the young guy also planing to open a desert shop. The advice from the aunt was go tour around in Taiwan then you try what ever food you are interested then collaborate with them. The funny thing was, 'Aiyooo, I tell you, if you open this kind of stall in a mall, bankrupt also got your share loh. Like this 1 better, can travel around and more ppl keen on it. Mall high class ppl where can enjoy.' Lol
Located directly opposite The Store supermarket.

This is my all time favourite which is 'Taufufa with Tong Yuen' 2 pieces of black sesame and 2 with peanuts. RM 3.50.

Then comes to this super geng stall, which is from far far far far far...you can smell the smell of it already. Which is 'Smelly Taufu' The same, got rape by a group of people in buying the smelly taufu. My friend is the last person in the line in green t-shirt. My best friend Chris. I was amaze on how good the business was as the person in front of me bought 75 pieces. I was thinking, 'Wah lau, this guy having pesta smelly taufu ka'....
I am only a small eater so I just bought 4 for RM2.40.
Food rating 10/10 , Good Ah~ -Stamped-

Located opposite The store supermarket. just directly opposite each other of the Hong Kong Sago Loh.
As said on the sign board. 'Aroma Across a thousand Miles'

It sure do look plain, but then the best part is, it is as smelly as the pasar tong sampah, It is either you like it or you hate it. Durian style. Of course the best part is you eat, then you try to have a passionate or wild kiss with your bf/gf..sure very high~..hahaha..

This is what I have down to my smelly taufu. Hantam everything in there on what they have given to me.

Enjoying my taufu. Damm, it is just so hot. But than again, cannot compare to the 1 I ate in Hong Kong. The aroma is stronger and taste much nicer as it put with 'sweet sauce and their custom made chili sauce. For Malaysian version its consider not bad.
Food rating 8/10 , Good Ah~ -Stamped-
Then I ate half way, suddenly this uncle caught my attention, where he come from la, from INDIA? can just put the whole stack of newspaper on top of his head without falling down like those ppl in India putting what ever they can put on their head.
It was a satisfactory meal with some walk and walk. Just that, celaka Chris did not eat along.

Thai Thai @ Sunway Pyramid

Posted by Taufulou | Labels: , , , | Posted On Monday, March 30, 2009 at 12:24 AM

It was Sunway after event at Convention Center. Craving for Thai food, and my friends suggested this place.

As my friend suggested the environment is quite good and the food is not bad.

The menu is simple and elegant.

There are sure 4 types of sitting style you can choose, the cushion area.

More dim and romantic area

If you do have more people to get together this would be an ideal place as we took up the whole area.

This area can be more on private functions. More elegant and classy round table area compare to the first 2 the pic I took on the outdoor area was damage and quite blurr, so did not manage to post it up. For smokers, there would be a good chill out area after dinner.

In Thai food which I must include in my meal is the 'Tom Yam Chicken' RM10. The colour was good when it got served, and the taste is just perfect which enough sour and just the right spicy level. There are quite alot of chicken cubes in.

My main course order was the 'Green Curry Chicken' RM16 which I was undecided. Love the pineapple rice, thai fried rice and just in the end chose that. The green curry was rather spicy compare to the rest that I had tried before, it feels like they hantam alot of cili padi in there, as I stir it up can just see the small chili here and there. I am not a real spicy eater but then need a full glass of cold water to accompany with it. If the spicy lvl is reduce by 30% I would rather say that it would be a perfect curry.

It would be a nice place to dine in but for the bill it came, I think it is abit pricy, as all the above did not include 'Rice' RM2. Overall still alright.

60 Earth Hour

Posted by Taufulou | Labels: , | Posted On Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 12:16 PM

Sure this is one of the even that had been talking about for the past few days. My colleague, my best friends surprising my parents(didnt know that they are into this kind of things). I do believe this campaign had been 1 of the successfull campaign to create awareness of an earth. For me, during my time in Melbourne, I was thought in this kind of awareness already just that alot of things in Malaysia have not been implement yet. Like now, I go hypermarket I have my own recycle bag that I used to carry along to avoid using plastic bags, and to coffee shop or normal MacD purchasing I will try to avoid taking plastics bag also if I can take the whole thing by myself.

Well, do believe that every 1 contribute abit to the earth will sure makes alot of difference and sure do look forward how will it be like in KL. I will just switch off my mobile, drive in the dark lol, what every have to do with electricity I will turn it off. Heee, so the best thing of me I will just gang up with my friends and meet some more and stay there for 1 hour. hehehe and one of the most funny thing that I got an sms from my buddies. This is what he sms to me

'Tonight we're not opening light not only on 8.30 to 9.3o. We dine at candle light then followed by disco light! Save the world pls...'

Sure he does. Although me the part me and my friend contribute is not much but still a contribution...

Pho Hoa @ Tropicana City Mall

Posted by Taufulou | Labels: , , | Posted On Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 11:13 PM

This is my first time step into this mall, interesting which is the mall is still brand new and the wonderful thing is the parking is free. Lol. As I thought this shopping mall would be a very nice place to shop but it turns out to be like another Mid Valley, but of course what interest me the most is there are alot of types of restaurant in this mall which other place do not have and there is one restaurant tat I first saw was the famous Japanese restaurant from Indonesia has landed here. It is Sushi Tei. Which my Indonesian friends always bring me to eat when I visit them at Medan or Jakarta. Will try next round.

But back here, was very hungry and was late in the afternoon. So was walking around and looking around on all the restaurant available. What makes me choose this 1 was it was Vietnamese food and it has been along time since I last eat a nice Vietnamese food and the staff there was very friendly when I was standing and browsing through on the menu, one of the guy which is not local, came out and introduce me all their signature item and that had attracted me to go in because of the guy.

But from the outlook itself I had already made my choice up already and just that wanna go see what are the other choices of food available in the mall since it is not big.

Surprisingly, it is a large franchise chain as it stated all the places that it had branches in the country. Open kitchen concept.

Their seating area also very comfortable and with a bit like bamboo on the wall which makes like a bit natural and jungle feel.lol~

It even had a website to visit for further detail of franchise opportunity and the company background itself.

A traditional type of Vietnamese food menu. Do not need many fancy pages only 2-4 pages. Done. Which they are always famous for their beef noodle. Signature I would say but damm, I cannot eat beef...*drooling because of praying. Not superstitious but a piece of advice from ppl around me.

When I saw this in the menu, thought of it was very unique 'Vietnam Coffee Milk & Ice'. So order included when it came, surprise me also, the coffee is like freshly brew and was like dripping inside as they pour the hot water from the top and drop. Very strong and nice coffee smell although I am not a fancy coffee drinker as it brings me the opposite effect(means sleepy). The ice they gave me was like the whole glass they put into the frozen area and brought it out I thought that they are giving me a beer mug but nope for me to pour over and the best is they help me to mix it and it taste perfectly nice. RM4.90 for this cute little thing.

As for traditional Vietnamese food which I never miss which is the entree, 'Summer Roll' or what I called it Vietnamese popiah..lol~ of course when you start to eat, you have to put alot of the thing in the sauce plate. It goes on very well, it gives me the feel like eating in one of the best restaurant when I was in Melb. RM3.55 for this.

Hrmmm.....here comes the main dish, a very traditional and signature of Vietnamese food or which I would say must try, the 'Vietnamese Noodle(brisket, tendon, and another 2 cow parts) which I claim to be the cow spare parts. If you love spare parts, you gonna love this food and in the menu, let you choose on which part of the beef you want. Some comes in a combo. Last time I usually take combo which means everything also have. hehe. The soup is just very nice and sweet full with the base of the beef soup that I am expecting. I did curi try to drink the soup abit and my friend finish the whole bowl. Yummy good as what was said.RM15.99

This is my dish as I cannot eat beef (damm disappointed) but then this looks good also. Comes with 2 popiah and chicken which is called 'Grilled Chicken & Fried Roll'. I did not start to eat the rice first but this time try to eat the chicken. When the first bite into my mouth, I was like...ermmm.....damm nice taste of the chicken, perfectly grilled and the enough taste on the chicken with its own seasoning. When tried on the popiah, took the whole thing into my mouth and spit it out again as it was too hot. hahah(tam sam-cantonese) but taste not bad. RM12.99 for mine. As total bill came into RM41.15 as I think the price is very reasonable.
The friendliness of the staff there had been very helpfull and the captain came by and ask us how is the food there as he wants to get some feed back as it is newly open. Of course my feed back was more than satisfying never got disappointed.. Will come and dine again by introducing more friends and blog food readers. ;)

Little Penang Cafe @ KLCC

Posted by Taufulou | Labels: , , | Posted On at 11:08 PM

Went to meet one of my Pg tuition friends when I was in high school, whereby this person is so hard to come out for a dinner and yet not much time even to go for Pang Sai(go toilet shit) which is her work load is mountain high~ yet manage to kutuk her some and manage to curi her out for a while to dinner at KLCC which yet she claim her time is very precious..(vomit blood)The style of our conversation is always like cat and dog. Kutuk all nite long.

So choose this place to eat as I lazy go to all the way down for dinning. Sure have the Penang Concept and since both of us also from Penang, 'nyek nyek nyek' time to go on commenting. Environment wise is not bad lahh~ cuz a bit high class Kopitiam style yet in KLCC so....cannot complain.

This is the are where they prepare the drinks and my friend peek a bit..'ask her so kaypo ah..wanna go in do iiiziit?'

This is what I had ordered. 'Curry Mee'. One of my favourite in this shop. Well, of course they have to serve halal its because have to be a unity shop...so there are some spare part missing. Still of course the base soup is quite sweet and taste some of the water paip taste but then after I .........

hantam 1 big spoon of the chili inside my bowl, it definitely taste very nice. Spicy yet delicious. I just finish the whole bowl like a small kid or maybe I was hungry tat day as I wait for her till my stomach turn belly(direct translation from hokkien)..The curry cost RM9.80.

Then my friend ordered, 'Prawn Mee' which in Penang we called it Hokkien mee, different from pg totally. This I never really like the taste of it and she also like shake head. Not really good then blame me for bringing her to eat this place. Cis~ RM9.80 for this bowl.

Sit and chat and chat then suddenly she tell me that she crave for 'Rojak' and lagi teruk 1 is she said she wanna have a few nia..cuz fattening..*slap on my forehead. Although the Rojak is not as nice as what we had in penang but cannot compare. So so onli la the the worst 1 is it cost RM7.50. suck blood as what we said and kutuk..lol..

Ampang Yong Tau Fu @ Jln Imbi

Posted by Taufulou | Labels: , , | Posted On Sunday, March 22, 2009 at 11:47 PM

I am a frequent visitor for this stall also. It is in my list for cheap and nice dining. Only start their business at night. I know that Ampang is famous for yong tau fu but just do not know how to go and do not know which stall is nice. Definitely this is one of my favourite stall. It is cheap and nice. Not only this stall, there are other variety also as it is a mini hawker area.

The 'Ampang Yong Tau Fu' Usually it is packed with people and the father and son running the operations.

One of the thing you must not miss in the selection was the Wantan. Very very good. Nicely fried, crispy on the outside and the filling on the inside is soft.

This is my selection for the night. Where my normal selection, taufu and wantan is a must, then , ladies finger, egg plant la and don know the other 2 called what. RM6.30 only.
Rating for this stall : 9/10

Then it was raining that day and lazy to walk to other stall, and the ppl dine there also ordered the 'Fish Ball Soup Noodle' so my kayponess also followed the crowd. Most of the people ordered soup I buat pandai order dry. So the result of the dry one, Sucks, very salty like drinking kicap. So maybe next round will try the soup. Instead of the dry but the price is very reasonable which is RM4.50 for a big bowl. I got shock also when I paid.

Rating for this stall : 2/10 for the dry noodle.

Should try this hawker area.

Restaurant Win Heng Seng @ Jln Imbi, KL

Posted by Taufulou | Labels: , , , | Posted On at 1:14 PM

This is one of my favourite place to go for lunch which I feel that the price is okay although abit pricey compare to other places like PJ or Pudu there. This shop is famous for this little stall during in the afternoon or lunch time.

This is called the 'Chu Yuk Yuen' as what my friend told me. As there are 2 types, one which is dry that I ordered and the other 1 is soup. Both are equally very nice as the dry, they will put the yuk yuen in another bowl. It is very nice. Should try out. Was told that this stall is very famous.

This is whereby they put it into separated bowl for the dry noodle.RM6 for this.

As I was very hungry that day, so decided to order this from the Chicken Rice stall. It taste very geli because both of the thing is very cold. Like just took out from the fridge. Especially the egg. The taufu is still alright. Cannot remember how much is it already but the price is reasonable. Will try on the chicken rice next round as seems like alot of ppl order it also.

This has changed to become my favourite meal in this coffee shop already. Previously I used to order the Chu Yuk Yuen but then after saw that the lady cooking this and it looks very tempting, so I must say it taste very very nice. The stall is next to the Chu Yuk Yuen. Enough salty, all the pig spare part which is very nice, nicely cook and hot enough and the best part is you will sweat like hell, as the thing is very hot and the coffee shop also very warm so your sweat will be start dripping. RM 7 for this bowl as I ordered it big. About the name for this dish, I do not know how to called it so skip it. Sorry.

I would definitely recommend this shop for lunch dining in KL city area.

Italiannies @ Sunway Pyramid

Posted by Taufulou | Labels: , , , | Posted On at 1:06 PM

Do not know what to eat again at Sunway and got suggested to eat Italiannies so directly agreed to that suggestion as I have not tried that branch before. From what I feel, the interior is better than the one in The Gardens as it is a bit classic compare to Gardens where I think it is a bit modernise.

I was seated directly at the back of the restaurant and found that this wall of pictures is quite interesting.

It was quite a lot of people for weekdays.

So again the usual routine, start off with the 'Marsala Mushroom Soup' and the taste I feel that it is better than the 1 in The Gardens Branch. RM 12.90

As usual, to me to test a Italian restaurant I usually would test their 'Carbonara' which I feel the simplest dish and which turn out to be a bit disappointed as it is quite dry, compare to what I always wanted or to be is more white sauce. Not like Char Koey Teow. Part of it I also feel that the Fettucini not cook enough. Well, sadly it cost about RM29.90 which I feel abit pricy.

After that piece of 'Tiramisu' from the Gardens, I never miss to ordered it again in this branch. To my expectation it taste the same which is very satisfying. Creamy, cheezy, enough chocolate powder and soft enough which is just freshly made. 'Sluurppp'......RM 16.90 for this.
Overall, it is still so so only and to the final stop of Italiannies I will try out the 1 in One-U which most of my friend claims to be very very nice.
