12inch Burger at Cravings Kitchen and Bistro @ Sunway Giza

In my list, when I do not know where to hunt for food, there are 2 places which is my favourite hunting ground which is Kuchai Lama and Kota Damansara but after recently I went again to Kota Damansara and make a few rounds around that area before heading to the newly build mall Sunway Giza, I could not denied that now I would rate that place as food heaven. Can you imagine that, there are more than 50 restaurants and hawker center just around that area?

If you are bored with normal food, then head to Cravings at Sunway Giza that offers variety of unique food. Be prepared to be amazed by some of their signatures

I have seen many bloggers blog about a restaurant in this place, and I we went to this new restaurant which is only 2 weeks old at this mall, Cravings.

I love their design how the make their exterior look with white wooden plants on the wall that makes them stand out compare to the rest.

The lower ground interior is a simply modern café style design that makes it cozy for a simple gathering or dines in.

You can choose to walk up to the upper level by the spiral stairs or another entrance at the side.

On the second floor is lit with blue lights to create ambiance for drinking session as they have a bar in that area.

I would say, they have a unique menu with a reasonable price.

Behold for the night to kick off with one of their signature, that caught our eyes big wide open with their ’12” Cravings Monster Burger’ @ RM25.90

If you tell me, I have always eat a foot long or consider 12” Subway sandwich but I have never eat a 12” burger before. We were all like, woahhh…. And we just cant wait to get our knife and fork to dissect it as the aroma of the Pattie smells good, it is serve with 4 different patties (all home made by the chef) - Vegetarian, Lamb, Chicken, Beef, bacon and cheese.

How we eat it, simple as we often play Jengga, you make the whole thing collapse then start eating it.

If mustard were added in, my god, it will taste absolutely good!

Up next is ‘Chicken Soup with Herbs’ @ RM6.90, as this version was cook to be blend in taste that I find it quite unique.

One of the dish that caught my attention is ‘Kongguksu (Korean Noodle in Soy)’ @ RM12.90 as when this whole bowl was serve it looks very white and when I help the waiter to put it on my table, I was surprise as this is serve cold.

More to my surprise is that they add in apple slices and ‘Bok yi’ which can find in tong sui to go along with the noodle.

This dish, some of us like it some of us do not like it but for me, I quite like it cause they cook using soya bean as the soup base and the other 2 ingredient added it was weird but taste good. I feel very healthy when I ate this and I sure do not mind to eat this especially for my breakfast.

Later the chef only told us that it’s a dish originated from Korea which he learn from his friend. Interesting.

'Halloween Dinner' @ RM 23.90 This fried rice was put into a pumpkin to get the aroma of it, turns out to be good, with the prawns at the size, its fresh when we eat it as the meat is solid and stick to the skin when we peel it off. Its quite a huge serving though.

‘Triple Decker’ @ RM10.90 that the chicken had been fried and another layer of fried rice were added on top. 2 ways to eat it as you can eat it in its original serving or like what we do, we mix everything up and eat it but I find that eating it by original serving, only can taste the fried rice and the chicken taste as they had been fried perfectly with ‘wok hei’.

'Dehli Fried Rice' @ RM 23.90

This is the first time that I saw a fried rice was serve by using Green and Red pepper as the wall, and it serve with 3 different flavour, normal, sour (with lemon squeeze in it) and spicy.

I cannot deny that, their fried rice range is quite impressive in taste as the rice are prepared in a secret method to get such a result (non sticky yet fried till dry its good)

'Sichuan Noodle with Crysanthemum' @ RM 9.90

Another dish that unique in taste that use chrysanthemum that originate from Sichuan that cook along and add on with some ‘ham choy’. First bite into your mouth it will feel blend but after a few bites and sips, the taste certainly is quite unique that, a bit sweet yet sour and the chicken added in is soft and flavourful.

'Macau 'Lua' Noodle' @ RM 9.90

With noodle base of pan mee that top up with a half boiled egg and served with chicken slices is something we do not get to see everyday, and we mix the egg and stir it together, the first bite we find it quite tasteless and we requested the waiter to give us some soy sauce, me and ken add in a bit and we were giving thumbs up and both of us just finish this whole dish. (if you feel it is tasteless, just request for soy sauce to bring up the taste, but some people prefer the original taste)

‘Grilled Steak with Hot Chili Salsa’ @ RM 34.90

Fine grill steak medium serve with a glass of Wine with chili salsa to bring a touch of Mexican to the steak.

'Craving House Burger' @ RM28.90

when I first saw this burger, I was like laughing and said its Crocs burger with the look similar like crocs shoe with a letter C there some more but then it represents C- Craving. It was served with fine juicy patties.

Then we request it to be cut out as I love the bread and taste of the patties, a bit crispy on the outer layer but soft and juicy inside.

Rice Dumpling (Bak Chang) Workshop @ Hotel Nikko

Every year during 5th day of 5th month on the lunar calendar, I am always excited on it as it is Dragon Boat Festival that will traditional eat Zong Zi or what I usually call (Bak Chang) which is a type of traditional Chinese Food, many Chinese during this festival at some of the homes will do some homemade bak chang by using ingredient such as pork, lotus seed, lotus leaves, salted duck egg, white or brown rice.

This festival was to commemorating the death of Qu Yuan, a famous Chinese poet from the kingdom of Chu who lived during the Warring States period. For more (read here – wikipedia)

I have always been a big fan of rice dumpling especially the home made ones, as it is rich in ingredients. Usually during this festival, my auntie would make some and give around the neighbours and there are at one time, my auntie forgot that the neighbor went travel and I had 2 weeks of bak chang! (after that got phobia of it) but till now still in lurve with the taste of it.

To me, I only always enjoy eating as I know making bak chang is easy as it involves a lot of work, but the tricky part is tying it up, that not until recently, I get an opportunity to attend a rice dumpling workshop by ‘Chef Lo Tian Sion’ that each of us were given a huge space in the kitchen table to play around, and let me tell you, it was fun!

The ingredients for the night are, white and brown rice, sugar, salt, oil, some powder . . .

and the very main ingredient are usually customise with your own choice, but for tonight are chicken breast meat, sea cucumber, mushroom, salted duck egg yolk, dry scallop and a few more.

Fresh lotus leaves are needed to wrap on the rice dumpling.

The chef are ready, are you ready~

Pour all the ingrediant into the bowl and mix it with your hand.

then after mix it thoroughly and place the 3 lotus leave at the bottom and spread it out, next add in the mix brown and white rice as the base then add in the main ingredient on top.

my best of wrap then the chef said that its not tight and solid enough. Gosh~ you really need the trip or master the skills to wrap on it.

Tadaaa....7th attempt still fail and it was the assist of the chef that helps us to tie on it and Ester also did it.

Our rice dumpling are going into the steam, as I just got to know that it need to be in boiling water for 8 hours. (which previously I thought for only a few hours)

Usually we go for the traditional rice dumpling but now we are learning sweet dumpling which is meant for desert . . . above are the ingredient needed.

Again, mix all the ingredient and mix it with your hand till thorougly till it become stick like a ball and prepared for the sweet base.

This are the sweet potato as been boil till very soft and mash it with hand, and need not add in any flavour as the sweet potato already quite sweet itself.

put it on a tray and you can customise the shape as you want it to be.

Hot up the oil till you stick a chopstick into the oil and you see bubble around it (shows that the oil is hot and ready to go) and just add in the whole tray of sweet potato to fried on it.

Fried till its golden brown and its ready to be eaten. What to eat it with? see the last pictures.

It was Andrew that help us take alot of pictures and he had sacrifise some of the process of making it.

Simply irresistable 'Rice Dumpling'. When it was cut open, my gawd, the smell of the lotus leave smell and strong aroma of the fragrant rice dumpling shows that it had been well boil and the taste of it, was not too salty, just perfect yet rich in ingredient, this portion need to be share as I cant finish one myself.

'Sweet Rice Dumpling with Sweet Potato n Ice Cream'

Is something new to me but I did not expect the sweet rice dumpling to be so good. Sweet potato was rich in its original taste, yet its hot but eat along with ice cream taste awesome and the sweet rice dumpling wasnt to sweet as it is a very good combination.

With this great experience is only one person to thank to, Katie which gave us the invites and had a great experience at the back kitchen..

Nikko Hotel is organising a Rice Dumpling Culinary Class on 5th of June 2010 and its only based on reservation, as seats are first-come-first-served basis.

TGI New Menu, Texas Mex @ Hartamas Shopping Center

One of the food outlet which is no stranger to all of us, I remembered that during my college times, when we were pretty broke yet still want to enjoy nice food, we head to hunt their set lunch at RM14.90 comes with a drink at Subang Parade outlet, and we just sit there talk and watch soccer and for the first outlet that they open in Penang, my dad brought me to dine there, he give me a prank yet also a surprise on my birthday few years back, that I have to stand on the table holding chili sauce bottle to sing as song to a full house crowd~ Gowd!, that was one of a great experience that I kept with the restaurant.

It was not until recently that got invited to go to TGI Fridays to try out one of their new menu, Tex-Mex, the range of Mexican food. When comes the word Mexican, the next word that pop out from my mind is Tacos, with fine fried bacon baked with cheese. Yummm~

The bar area in the restaurant also used to be one of my favorite hang out spot after work, as I often came by for their happy hour after work when I was in Penang as it was on the way back home. I love their dim light ambiance filled with a few big LCD to watch ESPN or some news to chill and nice Bartender to talk with. It was chill and relaxing after hard day of work.

It always depends on mood to hunt for which beer but to me, it was always draft, never on bottles~ The clear and fresh taste of it. Stout is one of my favorite choice but Heineken is the most preferred choice as its cooling and refreshing.

With the branch at Hartamas Shopping Complex, the team had put in a lot of effort to decorate the place and the team had won several times as the best dress restaurant, cannot deny that now the whole restaurant had Mexican ambiance that decorated with donkey, cactus and famous Mexican hat.

Even Elvis Presly will entertain you for the night. :D

and I just love this wall that decorated with old classic vinyl record lable on it.

The day could not be any better that we got served with ‘Gold Mango Margarita’ ripe mango pureed with tart lime juice and shaken with tequila and triple sec. The mango smell is so tempting but they were never stingy with their tequila shots, it was strong, a few sips already make me haywire abit, but it was good. RM17.90. The good news is, they also served 'Virgin Gold Mango Margarita' whcih is without alcohol.

'Quesdo Fondido' (RM 14.90) - Melted Monterey Jack cheese, crisp bacon, jalapeno, roasted peppers, onions and pico de gallo. Served with crisp corn tortilla chips

One of the best starter that I had so far at Friday’s that we just simply could not resist the temptation of cheese yet been pan fried with fine chopped bacon to add in the kick and the best part is to dig with tacos me and Ken just eat like it was owned by us, simply delicious. Recommended~

'Friday's Three-For-All' (RM 35.90) - Friday's very own big-enough-to-share platter features a trio of their most famous appetizers: Loaded Potato Skins, Fried Mozzarella and Friday's own spicy Buffalo Wings, complete with sour cream and green onions, marinara sauce and celery sticks with Bleu Cheese dressing.

'SOL Ribeye Asada' (RM47.90) Tender chargrilled ribeye steak marinated in SOL beer served with chipotle lime butter and oven roasted potatoes, onions and peppers.

The steak had been grilled to my prefered choice, medium and, juicy and rich in taste that had been season with lime butter that did not overpower the original steak taste in it.

'Tilapia Vera Cruz' (RM 25.90) - Sauteed tilapia fish fillets slimmered with tomatoes, sweet & spicy peppers, capers and olives. Served with herb rice. The rice is fragrant that they make it a perfect combination to eat it with the soft juicy fish.

'Chicken Ranchero Tacos with Herb Rice' (RM 22.90) - Tender slow slimmered chicken mixed with spicy Ranchero tomato sauce, Monterey Jack cheese stuffed in soft tortillas and topped with corn, black bean pico de gallo and shredded cheese. Served with Herb Rice.

'Chicken Ranchero Tacos with Roasted Potatoes and Peppers' (RM 22.90) - Tender slow slimmered chicken mixed with spicy Ranchero tomato sauce, Monterey Jack cheese stuffed in soft tortillas and topped with corn, black bean pico de gallo and shredded cheese. Served with Roasted Potatoes and Peppers.

'Beef Ribs' (RM 52.90) - This full rack of beef ribs is expertly cooked to ensure they're fall-off-the-bone tender. Then it will be fire-grilled and glaze it with Friday's own tangy barbeque sauce and serve with crispy fries.

A choice of dish that will never go wrong if you do not know what to order in the menu. Aromatic thick bbq sauce that add on to the soft tender ribs, by using fork, the meat is easily penetrated that shows how soft it is.

One of TGI signature, 'Brownie Obsession' (RM 13.90) - A warm brownie covered in chocolate-fudge sauce, vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce and pecans.

When comes to desert, girls would usually go crazy over it, but we guys do crazy over it too. Me and Ken was like, Ummm…hoh liau…Ahh.. Its good and satisfying. For us, one person could not finish it, as its filled with rich chocolate that its quite sweet for us but sharing, just perfect.

If you would like to taste a bit of every desert, TGI had come out with a special mini deserts.

Songkran Water Festival @ Hatyai 2010

For the first time in my life, I came to Thailand to celebrate their New Year which is known as Songkran Water Festival which falls on 13th – 15th of April. It is now one of the most happening festival in Thailand during that period for the year.

As I understand Songkran is something similar like Chinese New Year that it was traditionally a time to visit and pay respects to elders, including family members, friends and neighbors. People celebrating Songkran may also go to a wat (Buddhist monastery) to pray and give food to monks. They may also cleanse Buddha images from household shrines as well as Buddha images at monasteries by gently pouring water mixed with a Thai fragrance (Thai: น้ำอบไทย) over them. It is believed that doing this will bring good luck and prosperity for the New Year. In many cities, such as Chiang Mai, the Buddha images from all of the city's important monasteries are paraded through the streets so that people can toss water at them, ritually 'bathing' the images, as they pass by on ornately decorated floats. In northern Thailand, people may carry handfuls of sand to their neighborhood monastery in order to recompense the dirt that they have carried away on their feet during the rest of the year. The sand is then sculpted into stupa-shaped piles and decorated with colorful flags.

Some people make New Year resolutions - to refrain from bad behavior, or to do good things. Songkran is a time for cleaning and renewal. Besides washing household Buddha images, many Thais also take this opportunity to give their home a thorough cleaning.

The use of chalk (Thai: ดินสอพอง) is also very common having originated in the chalk used by monks to mark blessings.

The throwing of water originated as a way to pay respect to people, by capturing the water after it had been poured over the Buddhas for cleansing and then using this "blessed" water to give good fortune to elders and family by gently pouring it on the shoulder. Among young people the holiday evolved to include dousing strangers with water to relieve the heat, since April is the hottest month in Thailand (temperatures can rise to over 100°F or 40°C on some days). This has further evolved into water fights and splashing water over people riding in vehicles. (abstract from wikipedia)

The usual fight that we will equip ourself during this festival which is no stranger to our childhood memories are widely used 'Water Gun', besides this, you can use a pail, or any item that can store water to splash it on people/ passer-by.

Lets head back to my story, continue of my previous post that during the eve for the night. After had walk around and nothing much to shop, then we decided to join the party as our newly bought water guy had pass it to Karen and the rest, Kenji and Me went back to the hotel to gear ourself up!

After whole night water fighting and only we realise that, that group were attacking us all night long also Malaysians.

After used too much energy and hand pumping on the guy, we were exhausted they have food hut around the area to fill in your stomach. Pretty interesting street food~

After the meal, we walked around the streets and saw this, 3 girls sitting on top and just pay 20bhat to get 5 balls, used it to aim and hit the poll to throw them into the water and my goowddd! the girl on the very left, she is head banging all the way non stop for like more than 15 minutes before we walk off and and she still continue. We were like, if it were us, were wont last more than 3 minutes and felt that our head will come out.

Then we walked to another end of the street and there is another stage there. One thing that we were impress is that every junction of the street there is the stage, therefore it covers the rectangular shape of the street that makes if 4 stages.

One of a famous Thailand group that when they came out, every one was screaming for them as for us we don know who is that also.

Then early next day, we woke up early and went to the street area again, Jonathan trying to be thrown down into the water and he said that the water stinks with pee smell. I guess yesterday night those drunkyards went there to pee after the place was close.

The festival start after 3pm and it was early morning that the 'Fei Fu Dui' (special op unit) are being deploy eveey where with full load of tut tut.

but then we decided to head for shopping for that day cuz there are many things that the rest wanted to buy. We were all wet when we reach the market, and walk till we were dry and wet all the way back to hotel.

As the night falls, we had become devil again and the street crowd is crazzyyyy.. Sardin Pack!

Tonight, we had decided to station at another base, which is directly infront of 7-11. For what reason, scroll down for more and we are ready to attack!

The charm that we wear on our neck, based on their tradition is go help us cleans our body and make it like a brand new soul that to splash with water to usher a brand new year~

These 2 devils are the are the party crasher as they have never failed in their mission! Very professional that charge with a absolute cost.

After first round of drinking, we walk further into Lee Garden there which had transform to a massive street party. With famous Thailand DJ spining R&B all night long and it was fantastic to estatic!

If you would want to kill yourself, this certainly would be a great place cuz no one will care.

Every one was dancing all night long and remember, to replanish water around this area, they charged is 30bhat for 1.5L as this is a hot area.!

We saw this 'papan' and stand below it. . . great things will happen as we saw this on the floor.

After much dancing and need to pee and to recharge with 'Guai lou Leong cha' we head back to our station.

This is the reason we are infront of 7-11, we need Beer energy and 'Chang Beer' was our choice (because the rest of the choice we all gone which left it no choice for us).

This is how we ended up~

Drink till you pengsan, hang over, mati mati on the floor is a trend~ Keni is like not on this earth anymore, that we need to spray on him to make him wake up. . . (actually his eyes caught the chalk and its very minty that need to spray with water to open his eyes) - the white power that every one use to put it on our face is to mark a blessing.

When the nights proceed with more alcohol...things just doesnt seems right.

We called it a night again, when most of us are already on 70% and went to eat at the same place, but this time we get to eat and watch 'Muay Thai' one of a martial art from Thailand.

Before heading back, we head to the same place that previously we went for the night as the bass here is geng! With the KaipTan Jon already high. . .

The next morning before we pack up and head back, we went for last round of water fighting during the day time. It was the official day of the water festival and its more fun than the night before.

The war is even greater, with whole street, every one that pass by will be totally drench from inside out.

Catch: equip your water with ICE WATER! it just makes you shiver and jump like a monkey or stand there stun for a few second, if you got splash with a bucket if freezing ice cold water.

This is one of the most happening street in Hatyai for this festival. Whole strech of the road filled with people and for cars purposely to pass by.

Best Steak in Town, Castell Restaurant @ Section 16, PJ

After helping out Ee Lune on a photo shoot for Castell and it was a good experience and the restaurant had been into one of my recommended list of restaurant (click here previous post). Few days later, I received a sms from Ee Lune that the owner would like to host all of us for a review in her restaurant and I was so happy to go again.

Castell had been here for more than 30 years, yes, I seriously meant 30 years but not many people know about this restaurant as it was overshadow by the overhead bridge in front of it. This restaurant is famous for their steak, and a few signature item in the menu which is seriously good! Previously, the restaurant was run by a couple and they decided to call it a day for retirement, then they sold it off to a guy, and now Sheena is the new owner of this restaurant that had spend to refurbish it and it is about 3 months old now.

The owner also had the passion to bake as most of the deserts in the shop are prepared by her, there are one desert that I miss a lot when I was studying at Melbourne and she baked it and Sheena told me that what she have prepared for us in the list, my jaw dropped, as it lotsssss of food!

As Mother's Day is around the corner, this would be one of the choice to consider.

As the night is still young, we got serve with 'Bread served with garlic, olive oil and vinegar'

Then the first dish of the night came out, by the look of ‘Crabmeat Seasoned & Stuffed Back in Its Shell’ is no stranger to us, its a mixture of east and west, it was perfectly fried till it was golden brown and using my fork to break it open, it was meaty in it, as they use the whole crab meat to stuff it in and mix with other ingredient. (RM19.90)

'Grilled Portobello Mushrooms’ – Three Varieties (Mixed Herbs, Tabasco and Garlic Butter) at (RM15.00)

I just love this as it reminds me during my uni time when I joined bbq club that they this is actually one of the must eat item in the list. I just love how it is grilled till the flavor were add in till the mushroom absorb the taste of it.

I am a bread lover as anything that freshly toast in it, its good!

If you are looking for something simple yet appetizing, ‘Prawn Cocktail’ – Prawns, Lettuce, Special Castell Dressing (RM12.00)

'Jumbo Prawn Bisque’ (RM22.00)

When it was serve, we were quite surprise by one huge prawn cut into half that stand tall like that and all of us were like, woahhh!!! And just cant wait to taste on it. It was as good as crab bisque that the prawn was very fresh, chewy n springy.

‘Crab Bisque’ (RM18.00)

Is one of the best soup that we have had, as the portion is rich with ingredient as we can see a lot of crab meat in it till every spoon we scoop, we can bite huge crab meat and the soup base is very flavorful . Recommended~

‘3 Blend Mushroom Soup’ (RM8.00)

Surely I do not mind to go for another round of soups.

‘US Prime Rib’ (RM98.00)

Is actually one of the signatures for the restaurant that the Rib is amazingly huge till witch took a picture of it which is half the size of her arm. The rib was perfectly grilled with the griller burred lines on the steak, and it was cook medium rare as I like my steak to be. Later it was cut into cubes for us to eat and it was gone within seconds, by dipping the sauce given, it add extra umph in it, if you prefer to taste the original of the steak, it is advice not to dip with the sauce.

After we finish the whole ribs, the best part is to suck on the taste and lick it clean the bone, and this is how we do it, Ken

Strong aroma that makes people uncomfortable when it got served is ‘Stilton Special NZ/AUS’ – Grilled tenderloin wrapped around a blue cheese melt with beef bacon (RM68.00)

I am not a big fan of blue cheese or I would say I have not master the skill to enjoy blue cheese but in this restaurant, this is a must have steak for me. The meat is tender, juicy and soft and every bite of it, it just melts me. I cut a small cube of it and dip with blue cheese and cuz a small slice of bacon tip on top of it and its al dante. Recommended~

As mention by Sheena, those who are not used to eating steak, her recommendations would be ‘Prime Fillet NZ/AUS’ – Thick, juicy tenderloin fillet with an amazing sherry sauce (RM68.00). as far as she concern, those who eat it never fail to come again for second piece. As for us, we had fall in love and craving for it. One of the best and juciest steak that I had so far.

As some of you are not able to enjoy steak, worry not as they do have other selections to cater for you.

If you are looking for a good bargain in the menu, then I would say you must head for 'Mixed Grill – Lamb, Chicken, Sausages, Prawns' (RM39.00). The portion is huge and with the price tag on it, no complains.

Something different in the menu as most of the restaurant will usually use dory fish or salmon, well marinated and grilled evenly the colour looks good and the fish meat is soft.

'Chicken Parmigiana' – Crumbed chicken breast served with chips at (RM30.00)

I love it as afterfried the top it with cheeze and tomato purree to baked along with it. I dip it with simple chili sauce, it is flavourful~

Previously I was craving a lot for spaghetti as I watch the Korean drama ‘Pasta’ and by seeing how they prepare and I did learn a few tricks how to see good pasta. ‘Creamy Chicken Pesto Linguine’ – Grilled chicken, cream, fresh basil, pine nuts, olive oil at (RM24.90) is good, as it was creamy and flavorful that suits my liking.

Seafood option will be ‘Spaghetti Aglio Olio with Grilled Jumbo Tiger Prawns’ at (RM27.90), the spaghetti is springy and cook just right, taste mild but has the umph of it.

When all of us said we are full, but there are always a room for desert. Most of the desert are homemade by Sheena as she made it from home and bring it over to restaurant and something I am hunting for are, Friand and Apple Crumble.

'Homemade Tiramisu' with the based soak with Baileys and mascarpone cheeze in it, its there. yum~ (RM14.00)

'Coffee Hot Fudge Cake' tell me, girls would fall in lurve with this piece deeply, as it is rich in flavour and eat it along with ice cream is perfect. (RM12.90)

Remark: it is quite sweet but one of the best seller.

One of my favourite all time, that I had miss for very long time, 'Choc Chip Hazelnut Friands' at (RM8.90). I used to eat it when I was working in a cafe in Melbourne and not many places that serve this, and trust me, it was prepared hot and it has half melted chocolate chip and hazelnut in it. A simple bite with ice cream, just make my day~ Recommended

I love the 'Apple Almond Crumble' with the level of sweetness is there and the top layer is baked a bit crispy just as I like it. (RM12.00)

The desert do not end there as Sunny (Bigboysoven) was in the mood and a chocolate moist for us to end with it.. Oh. . my, his cake never fail to impress us.

The great night end with imported beers with all my favourites, Leffe and Paulaner (RM 24), serve along with snacks, another great recepi by Sheena made from corn flakes, crunchy anchovies and curry leaves, something unique and flavourful to go along with beer.

If you feel that is above your budget then can start to try their Set lunch at a very reasonable price from RM16.50+

After the whole long list prepare by Sheena, that I can only say thank you, we all had a great dinner and definitely now, to go for nice steak at a reasonable price, surely this is one of the restaurant to hunt for.

IP Man 2 Movie Premier

I guess summer movie list had started to hit onto our local cinema with 2 biggest movie to start from, Ip Man 2 and Iron Man 2 that most of the movie goers are hunting for this weekend. I got a chance to watch IP Man 2 movie preview thanks to Nuffnang for the tickets.

If most of you had watch IP Man part 1 that had anticipated a lot of Wushu martial arts Wing Chun that fought with the Japanese. In this show, the martial art Legend fought with American style, Boxing. It also, about pride of every one to defend their martial arts that Sammo Hung had fought with that guy for pride and integrity.

A great martial art movie that I get to know how IP man grows his legacy and one of the news that I got is that Bruce Lee was actually his apprentice. I feel that, there might be a part 3 coming out..Hopefully there us, that might tell the story of Bruce Lee.

Nice movie but some might find it a bit boring as it involves alot of talking but the fighting scene will not dissapoint you.

A few days ago, we went back again to Hai Thian restaurant for a feast again. It was one of the post that I had forgotten to blog about it, that I manage to find back the pictures and now it is a combine post of both event the first one was after Chinese New Year we came here for lou sang and second time was few days ago to celebrate Kebbie’s Birthday. This is regard as one of a recommended restaurant by my colleague. One of the reason I did not blog about it as I do not have the receipt, therefore the name in here is base on my own estimation.

During my first trip to this restaurant, I find it very far from my office as it is deep inside Serdang, but when I reach the restaurant I was shock! to see the restaurant occupied half of the stretch of the shop lot, might taken up around 5-7 shop lot to convert it. With the effort, I have rated it as dont play play restarant as it must be a standard to be able to conqueer such a big place.

As some information from my colleague as this restaurant is very famous and they had just move to this new premises, as during on the old location, it is always pack!

A modern interior with some Chinese calligraphy printing on the pillar, with high ceiling and a stage, occasionally a lot weddings are held in this restaurant, based on our estimation, it is able to cater up to 80 tables.

The menu is heavy and the pricing in here are very reasonable.

For the first round when I was here, we had 'Salmon Lou Sang'.

'Chicken Fried with dry Chili', the taste is absolutely fantastic, fried evenly that the chicken is soft and tender yet the sauce that fried along in it makes the aroma stick on the chicken that the gravy is sticky.

I have eaten a lot of salted egg crab, pork, chicken and others but I have not tried before ‘Salted Egg Pumpkin’ as it turns out to be very good. The salted egg had been finely chopped till its like sand and pumpkin to fried along with it, is just as good as it is.

'Chinese Herbal with Prawns and Vermicelli (tang hoon)' when this pot came over, it was finish within seconds and not enough that we order another pot of it. The soup is very aromatic with chinese wine that did not overpower the herbs taste, just the right amount and taste is very inviting.

'Fried Lotus Root, Chinese Pea with Macadamia Nuts'. Fried with wok hei that maitain the freshness of the vegetable and the ingredient of Macadamia nut add the extra umph in it.

'Fried Vegetable'

'Steam Fish with Ginger', fish is fresh as the meat is soft and juicy and ginger was fried perfectly right as we can taste the spiciness of it and dip along with the soy base, no complain.

If you love spare parts, then one of the dish that you must not miss is 'Fried Pig Intestine with Blackpeper'. I love the stink taste of it as for me I feel the taste is there and black peper is just right that is not very spicy that make every one enjoys it.

We had not enough of it and order another plate with the 'Fried Intestine' and tell you, it is good, chewy and springy. Dip with the sauce that came along with it, it was gone within 60 seconds.

Till here, the first total bill damage was RM260 which I find it quite reasonable with the portion and quality served by 12 pax.

We had often taste sweet and sour pork but this round (second visit) we decided to try out 'Sweet and Sour Intestine' but for me I prefer the black pepper as it taste better.

'Birthday Noodle' was something different that I have tried, as it add in pork ham. My gawd! it taste awesome by adding in some vinegar with starchy sauce base and aromatic ham taste.

'Dried Chili Claypot with Pork' as a very good companion with rice. Strong base flavour that is abit spicy with dried chili and the pork slices had been slice thinly that cook it a while to make it chewy and just cook.

'Fried Pai Kuat' would be adding into my list as it was fried evently cripy then sauce was fried along with it. Eat it hot, while the taste is there.

This second bill comes in total of RM250 for 10 pax which is quite reasonable too. For those residence that lives around that area, surely is a restaurant I am recommending, perfectly good for up coming Mother's Day. A good meal and a nice place to be.

Looking for nyonya favourites, this stall provides you Char Koey Teow.

One of the favourites are Satay. Chicken and Beef (to look out for)

Marinated perfectly, and grill to soft and juicy that must dip with peanut sauce provided next to it.

Hakka Food at Restoran Chi Ka Yin @Bandar Puteri, Puchong

Restaurant in Bandar Puteri is mushrooming like crazy, with invites from uLi that I get a chance to come and dine one of the shop in the area which is a Hakka Restaurant located in the heart of the town. The restaurant was very easily located when u see a big building easy pharmax then it’s nearby.

All their specialities are on the wall. If you do not like to look at the menu, then you can just pin point anything on the wall.

The history of it

One of the thing that impress me in this restaurant is this small little shop, that was just began operation about 5 months ago already got so much to bag for, by coming out in the newspaper, and also already got featured in Ho Chiak!

While the night is still young, we kick start with one of the very traditional dish 'Hakka Abacus Seeds (算盘子)' @ RM12(S) RM24(B)

'Hakka Salted Chicken (客家咸鸡)' @ RM13(S) RM25(B), something that look simple but yet very flavourful. I like the soup base of it, which is a bit gingery, salty yet its feels like clear in taste.

'Spring Roll (春卷)' @ RM12(S) RM24(B) that dip in chili sauce, thumbs up.

'Yam Pork Belly (芋头扣肉)' @ RM8(S) RM16(B) is also one of the classic dish, with the yam and pork belley steam till it is very soft till when you put into your mouth will melt away.

'Braised Duck (卤鸭)' @ RM12(S) RM24(B)

'Vinegar Pork Knuckle (白萝卜猪脚醋)' @ RM8(S) RM16(B) is a dish not to be miss in Hakka food. I just love the heavy taste of vinegar and the pork been braised long enough as the skin and meat is soft.

'Salted Vege Fish (咸菜焖鱼) @ RM15(S) RM30(B) as the soup base is not that thick but eat along with rice is a perfect companion.

'Hakka Fried Meat (客家炸肉)' @ RM8(S) RM16(B)

'Yong Tau Foo (醸豆腐)' @ RM8(S) RM16(B)

I love this 'Bitter Gourd Salted Vege Soup (苦瓜咸菜汤) @ RM6(S) RM12(B) as the taste is just right. Not too bitter yet its not very salty vege did not overpower the taste of it. Good to 'Ha For' (cool down body temparture)

'Pepper Pork Stomach Soup (猪肚汤)' @ RM6(S) RM12(B)

'Salted Egg Steam Pork (咸蛋蒸肉饼)' @ RM6(S) RM12(B)

Is one of my favourite, totally gives me a really home feel yet the best part is they add salty egg yolk in it. The egg been steam till so soft and the taste is there, by adding in a bit of soy sauce, its just perfect!

Complimetanry 'Konyaku Jelly' in the house.

With the pricing and quality of food that they are serving, definately I would be back for more.

Road Trip to Hatyai - Street Food Hunting

Continuation of my road trip up north, after overnight at Penang for a night for some leisure and food hunting, and next after at the boarder getting stamping and head to a very nice restaurant introduce by Karen and quite well know to a lot of Malaysians too which is a restaurant by the lake side (click here).

This is the kind of queue that you can expect at the boarder but we were there early and a day before, therefore it is not a hassel. Took us about 35mins to get through.

The whole gang sot sot, as early morning already went to the duty free area and hantam beer already as cannot deny that the beer is very cheap with a large can of Heineken for around RM7 if not mistaken and each of them already had 2 cans each.

After lunching, we drive up further north into the city of Songkla to check into our hotel. It took us about 35 minutes drive to reach. With no choice to choose from the list as this trip was a pretty last minute decision, the only hotel left that nearby the city was Hotel Daiichi and the rest in the city center are all fully booked as mostly a lot people from far and local came for this festival.

When we went into the room, I was so shock of the room condition as if the floor had not vacumm for the past 5 tenants as I can see nuts, and it is very dusty, with my barefoot step onto the carpet, this is the first time I feel gross. With charges of RM175 for this festive season, I would say we have no choice but to bare with it for these two nights. Only one phrase would never return back to this hotel again.

One of the most famous transportation in Hatyai or Thailand is this mini car, which they called it ‘Tut Tut’ with a charges of 20baht (= RM 2) per trip regarding on the distance within city area, it is one of the most convenience transport that they have as its everywhere and every corner.

We were exhausted from driving, as for the first thing to do when we reach in Hatyai is to do massage first. They offer one of the cheapest massage.

‘Siam Traditional Massage’ was one of the place introduce by Karen. If you compare the rates in Malaysia, your jaw will drop not only the time frame but with the RATES! RM24 for 2 hours, can you IMAGINE that… for the whole 2 hours for only RM24 as I could not believe it myself. In Malaysia it can be easily RM 80 – RM100.

While we are waiting this is what we do. . .

If you do need any masseur we do have important with very good energy and inner power which is ‘Sui Mak Mak’ that you can choose from. All the local massuer are not available as they are fully book. We have Karencharak, Kenji Pom Pom, Lingnon and Bokrachak.

This was not the best massage that I have gone but no complain with the rates, would go to another parlor to try out. After the little nap and laughter during the massage, we are now fully charged and going to raid the city.

This is one of the main street that hosting this festival. If you feel you are too dry, then stop by.

Most of the stalls are selling water gun as I have not got mine yet. Still looking for better rates and bargain as what I heard from my friends, they can go as high as RM80 per gun during the actual day, as it was eve of the day, the guns still sell around RM30 for 1.5L tank.

Asking the rates but the gun colour and shape did not interest me. Till now, only me and Jon have not get the gun yet.

walked towards one of the famous landmark in Hatyai is Lee Garden Hotel which is the complete area with food, and shopping paradise.

behind me is all the street food and street shopping that you can get a t-shirt as cheap as RM5.

All of us were very hungry as it is around 4pm after the massage and hit on the streets as Hatyai there are a few street food you must not miss .. . . . .

which is big prawns selling for 100-200 baht depends on the size.

Young coconut. . 10 baht for one.

And three of them are on casting to host for upcoming makan makan channel that introducing what is nice as we going to shoot for fun ourselves. 3 of them pass!

Since when I was a kid that my parents brought me over to Hatyai for the very first time, I was so amaze with the air gun here and hoping with all my hear that I can actually own a few for my own collection and the price is very cheap, RM45 jus for one piece.

After everyone been happy shopping, and stomach started to play drum, we went for another street food hunting again next to the market and wanted to go for restaurant which is highly recommended by Jonathan( which I will blog later).

'Fried Chicken' @ 15 Baht

Next is we head for the fried pork bacon. A pack of full small pastic size only 15 baht. Bite till your jaw got numb.

One of the best street food that you must not ever miss is the 'Mango Sticky Rice' 20 baht per pack with one full mango inserted in it.

this stall has unique sticky rice and its very flavourful.

2 minutes walk from that stall we saw this kuih stall with so many people then we also stop by to look at it. My gawd!

So many variety of it and all also look tempting. Then we bought every thing one piece as the owner previously reluctant to sell us in that order as he sold a packet of 3 pieces in it. 10 baht per pack.

If you do eat 'Chai Kuih and Bangkuang Kuih' in KL or Malaysia, then this is the Thai Version.

They pan fried it till both side of the skin are cripsy and the season ingredient in it are pretty similar.

but it taste awesome that we regret did not buy more.

The street food above are along the road from Thanon Supasamrangsan till junction of Thanon Pracharak.

The night version of the ‘Tut tut’ is very different. This one that we took is lighted with blue neon and one of their favorite song that would blast away is Vengaboys – Boom boom boom. . . if you still remember this song.

Went back to hotel to drop all our heavy load of shopping bags and round back to Lee Garden there to see how their night life is.

With the army team lead by fierce and not so human Karen to the war.

and without weapon we could not go for war and here finally I saw the gun that I like with white and blue colour.

With this very nice guy he is selling us each gun for 250 bhat which is a good bargain so Jon bought one too.

This is the eve of the water festival and every one is already at war! We went back to HQ (hotel room) to take the rest of the gun and declare war with these people. . . . !!!!!

Food in Hatyai is very cheap cost from 50-500 bhat! with our currency which is RM1 - 10 Bhat

After I have read a few review from bloggers saying that this a good movie, and by watching the preview and their comment so we give it a try since there is nothing much to do for the day.

The movie is about, a special op was operate in Bolivia and then the mission changed when there involve kids, till when the chopper arrive, 5 of them suppose to be in it then a missile hit the chopper full of kids, that want them to die, the story continue from there, where they go and head back to US to hunt the guy.

Quite a nice movie, with a few cool actions involve.

Ice Kacang Puppy Love

During Chinese New Year, Tiger Woohoo had mades its impact on our local film industry and had made a big buck after that, here comes another great local movie acted by a lot of local and international artist from Taiwan which is the latest film Ice Kacang Puppy Love. This film had made another huge impact on our local film industry which I totally feel it’s a great start to compete with Singapore and Taiwan. The quality and story line is there.

Since the opening last Thursday, its hard to get ticket for this movie, been either left front 2 rows or full house not until yesterday manage to get a good seats on the very last minute.

It is a great story that brings up a lot of childhood memories especially to guys and girls that had puppy love during teenage time and its about ah niu like a girl that unable him to express his love towards his childhood friend till they head off to pursue individual career, yet surprise ending too. Recommended local movie with laughter and love~

Those who say local movie is not in good quality with nice story line, just catch this one. A good exposure of our local movie quality and story line.

Breeks Cafe @ IOI Mall, Puchong

One of the day, where we were pretty bored with our canteen food, so we decided to go out hunting for lunch again, that had landed me one of the newly open IOI mall new wing. It has been ages since I last step into this mall, but as it was not far from my company and one of my colleagues mention that the set lunch in Breeks café is quite worth it and landed us here for the food. They do have one branch in Penang at Gurney Plaza but their menu had never temp me try it out.

Their set lunch comes with types of drinks to choose from and we order the whole range of it. 'Ices Strawberry Lemon, Iced Passion Fruit Tea, Iced Lemon Tea'

with 'Soup of the Day' tasted so so. .

'Mozzie Balls' were pretty good, with mozarella cheeze in it. RM6.90

Next was the serving of 'Chicken Patties Melted' with cheeze covers on top and dip with the sauce given, taste not bad but it feels more like ramlee burger syle. RM19.90

'Grilled Chicken Chop' at least it taste a bit better that its fried with some marinated herbs taste. RM19.90

'Lasagna' was not up to my expectation as I find the layer in between the filling is thick and flour taste is there.

Restaurant Bee Hooi @ Pulau Tikus, Penang.

In Penang, most people consider it a food heaven that cannot be deny, that one of the hottest place to dine at night and you love to rob a dinner table for your family and friends, which is a very normal things to do in a coffee shop, then you must not miss one of the famous place to dine Bee Hooi Restaurant. A place where you can find simple hawker food enough to kill off your hunger and craving that filled with a few famous stall, with cheap food yet good.

If you come here during public holiday or weekends, you might have to be a efficient robber.

A stall that I would not miss is this Frankie's Pizza with in the standard menu, 'Hawaiian Chicken, Tuna, Seafood, Mutton, and a few more. '

One of my personal favourite in the stall is 'Hawaiian Chicken or Mutton with extra cheeze topping' yum~

With my 'Mutton Pizza with extra Cheeze' RM 7-8 (Small) is well toast and ready to be eaten. Please do not compare the one with the restaurant as this is the kopitiam version as the crust might be thicker and hard a bit but after toast it well with well marinated ingrediant, its one of the best to get. Nice melted cheeze, with soft mince mutton with onion in it. Recommended~

For oyster’s lover, ‘Fried Oyster’ is one of the dish you would not want to miss. I find the fried oyster here is very classic, that fried it in soft layer with egg, mashed it a bit and top it up with Oyster. Its very aromatic and dipping it with the Chili, its just perfect.

One of the famous hawker in the kopitiam is this ‘Char Koey Teow’ stall run by the whole family, as the mom prepare the ingredient, the dad fried on it and the son deliver. You can be expected to wait from easily 10minutes to 30 minutes depending on the crowd as this mini hawker stall did feature in a few newspaper as seen in front of the stall which I forgot to snap it.

One of the good ‘Char Koey Teow’ to make it delicious is by using charcoal to fried along and plate by plate to ensure the koey teow and the ingredient are fried evenly. To eat the best ‘Char Koey Teow’ is always must go along with ‘Duck Egg’ if the place do offer and fried with charcoal.

My simple plate of 'Char Koey Teow with Duck Egg' RM4 which is my cheaper and nicer compare to the famous one Lorong Selamat. I do have big prawns too on my plate with well fried with wok hei, and dry with each koey teow is not that sticky and aroma of duck egg is well blend.

Then my mom ate ‘Koey Teow Theng’ RM3 which is a simple dish which is definately taste alot better than most of the KL stalls.

Besides this mention above, there are other famous stall too, like the ‘Loh Mee’ and a few other stalls. . . With no complain that this kopitiam serve quite a good range of food, worth recommending.

King Crab @ Kelana Jaya

Most of the time driving along using LDP, I could not help but notice this big billboard King Crab opposite Kelana Jaya Station, which is not a stranger to most of us yet I have heard quite number of my friends that they like this restaurant as so far I have frequently dine at Fatty Crab located at SS24 but not until recently got invited for a review session by BBO to the restaurant.

Those that attend for the session on that night. . . . .

I just love the 'Achar' that is well marinated, with sour and a bit spicy and its a great appetizer to start off with.

'Signature Long Ribs' is something that we enjoy along, when it was serve, the aroma of it is so tempting till I grab a rib to lick and start bite on the edge, its juicy and the meat is tender, a dish worth recommending.

When you go to a seafood restaurant which is famous for crab, of course you would not want to miss their signature dish! 'Creamy Butter Crabs Baked in Claypot'

At first I did not bother to eat this yet as it involves using hand and I was still trying out other dishes, it was not until Sunny start eating it, and seeing the way he it is so tempting till I could not resist and jump in to grab the crab.

When I dig to find the crab part that I want, my fingers already covered with the creamy sauce and when I lick it, OMG! I was like in heaven. It was so rich in taste, creamy and I just cannot stop licking the crab craw. The meat is solid hard which shows the sign its fresh. This is one of the best butter crab that I have had so far and surely its a higly recommended dish by me if you do go to this restaurant.

Then Dato requested us to try to eat with the ‘Fried Man Tou’ and without much hesitation, I just walap the man tau and dip it into the butter crab and I was in heaven, with the creamy thick sauce and crispy warm man tau . . . I just wish I could have more of it, and that makes Andrew want to have the last piece of man tau as he keeps staring.

The dishes that were served on that night. It was lots of food on the table, as we finish everything up and lick it clean.

During the dinner, we have a special honor guest that dine with us too which is the restaurant owner ‘Dato Marcus Kam’, a young man who graduated as the Chemical Engineer and with the MBA qualification that has burning desire in everything that he is interest in. He is also a speak in a lot of events, and we have learn a lot from him during the dinner, to him, a great business talk would not be perfect if without wine.

I could not deny that we had a great food and would be one of the best seafood restaurants to recommend in the area. *Non-Halal

Water View Restaurant @ Danok, Thailand

Last week, me and my colleague were so excited on our very first trip up north, to be more excited is that, we are going on for a road trip start off from KL --> Ipoh --> Penang (stay over a night) --> Hatyai for Songkran water festival which is their New Year.

I will be skipping our makan trip in Malaysia and head to our Thai Boarder, we start off our journey early in the morning 7am during the first day and eat all the way up north till Penang. Then we continue our journey again early next day to the boarder to avoid long queue in the immigration area as a lot of Malaysian are entering for the festival, as there is once my colleague stranded there for about 3 hours just to get the passport stamped.

As we drive into Thai and I come accross some great info from Star Online that one of the guy went over, he sure do cover up the details to those who are driving up as below:

Just a guide for those who want to drive into Thailand. [1]Original or photostat copy of vehicle registration in the driver's name is required for our Malaysian border Police checking and for the Thai Customs officer at their immigration checkpoint to issue an "Import/Export" permit for the vehicle. Those driving company vehicles have to obtain a letter of authorisation by the company to allow the driver [you the visitor] to use the vehicle. I do not recommend visitors to use company car because if there is an accident or car stolen, the reporting and recovery procedure is very complicatng and long - very messy.

If you intend to drive a lot fill up full tank at Changlun cos petrol in Thailand is much more expensive - I think at least RM3/- per litre. Buy a one-week insurance cover for RM19/- at any of the tour agencies in Changlun, at the same time pay RM1/- for your Thailand imigrattion card to be filled up. Never give a ride to strangers and never carry some luggage for them - especially when departing from Thailand.

As all our makan itinerary been planned by Karen as Thai is like her second home with her assistant Jonathan. The first stop for the early lunch was this famous place Water View Restaurant which is highly recommended by Karen and her friends, that locate right at the boarder. The journey driving in is with the feeling of, we got kidnap into thai and ready to be sold to some strangers as the road is small and through a small village back alley.

It just took about 10-15 minutes to reach this restaurant from the boarder.

When we reached, we hopped off our car and faster head to the restaurant as we were very hungry and hot as when we were toast at the border and just cant wait to get a glass of coconut or cold beer and this place is huge. It is like another small village out from the town.

Of course, new place in another country, will usually start off with some photoshoot and camwhore.

I think this is where all the restaurant people staying in by building their own homes. Interesting!

When we walk to our sitting place, I got so fascinate by the place love how the decorate the place in a traditional concept, kampung style decoration, by using dry coconut leaves to build as the roof, low table for us to sit in and pillow to support us when we are lazy, one thing great about this place is we have a fantastic view by overlooking the lake and hills. We feel so relax even though it is very hot and as if we are in sauna but with a glass of beer just chill us off.

This is the kitchen area, one thing unique about this place how they serve the dish will be a few pictures below.

This shows how big is the restaurant and what I have been and what I have been told, if you do come during dinner or the night session, it would be even nicer as the whole restaurant is light up beautifully but will miss the scenery. I guess, we cannot take one stone kill two birds.

Jeng Jeng jengg… here comes the menu and time to order food to filled our stomach.

I flipped through the menu a lot of times back and forth, and I got lost. The entire menus are in Thai language. Totally lost! That is why we tag along our local tour guide.

I just miss these bottle mineral drinks, as I used to come to Thailand with my family when I was a kid.

Usually we see waiter and waitresses serve us the meal but one thing unique about this place is they transport the food by using a boat as the kitchen is not attach with the meal area, which is located at another side of it.

Tadaaaaa. . . . . arrival of the first batch of food.

and let me introduce you second batch of food.

Naming dish in this post will be a little difficult as menu and receipt are in Thai language.

'Kerabu Seafood' which is one of the dish that will not miss when in Thailand. Filled with, prawns, shrimp, chicken feet skin, clamps, mussel, with some lime, sour and spicy gravy.

Next would be 'Fried Fish in Tomyam Sauce'. The fish is very fresh as the meat is very soft that soak in the spicy tomyam soup and by just a few bite and sip we were drench in sweat and our mouth is on fire.

'Fried Oyster'

We love our 'Seafood Tomyam Soup' and with the colour we could really tell it is spicy, sour and its sweet with the seafood taste.

The best dish of all 'Crab in spicy sauce', unique in taste as we get to eat slab of fried egg, not that really spicy but very aromatic with the sauce and egg taste. The crab meat is solid too, that is why this is one of the best dish.

This is how we enjoy our meal with Kenji start to burp fire out of his mouth and Jonathan enjoying is every bite of crab or would more like 'sapu'ing' everything on the table.

During half journey of our meal, most of our lips had become sausage as its flaming spicy and in hot enviroment that makes us drench in sweat, Yen Ling, being very hungry and just eat what is available and Karen start to burp our fire too.

'Singha Lager Beer' is something we do not miss on our meal too cool us down in such a hot weather. Love the taste of it, not that strong in alcohol taste that makes it just nice to go along with spicy food.

After heavy meal, we need to water the environment, what capture our attention too was the toilet. Well docorated with enviroment friendly concept.

Mini waterfall is usefull during your relief moment.

Big spacious room for you release to the nature.

The mens loo, that you get a great few while watering the enviroment.

See, how nice it is when you go pangsai with sun light above giving you some vitamin and mini waterfall sound with birds chirping makes it more smooth sailing. :)

Right now we just cannot wait to hop into our car. What we neeed is airrrr-coooonnnnnn...

This is our first time and would not be our last time, we will definately return if there is a chance.

The total damage in this place was around 1700Bhat which is equaivalent to RM170, with 3 bottles of beer it is not cheap yet nor very expensive but we had a satisfying, burning spicy lunch.

Remarks: the food here are quite spicy and at night its packed with people.

From what I do remember is, directly after the boarder, you look at your right, there are a few road entries, (calculate only the first junction entry to third junction, any of it can be accessible) find a junction which is less than 50m to make a U-turn to axcess into the small road.

Drive till the end till you see a very small T-juntion then turn right, just drive all the way straight through this small alley about 10-15 minutes and you will arrive at this restaurant which is on your LEFT which is very obvious (a straight road with plantation then suddenly you will see cars parking around a area)

Last week was a great week that we got invited over for a session at Mezzanine Bar & Lounge at Prince Hotel. It was more like a blogger gathering to us as it was the usual faces that turn up for that night, with our all time great host, Shirley.

This lounge indeed a great place to meet up with friends and business partners to chat for the day as the place is very comfort and the people working there are very attentive.

If you feel that you needed to be pampered more, you can just open a bottle of wine and cigars to makes you feel better, then Fidel's is one of the place you would not want to miss.

Classy, chill and relax with a pool table ready for your action.

At Mezzanine Bar & Lounge, it serves a wide selection of cognacs, armagnacs, cocktails and wines, as well as a daily morning and afternoon tea.

'Fizzy Bacardi with Strawberries '

We were then got a chance on preview of Venezuelan Appertizer which is happening at Prince Hotel this week. 'Prawn Cocktail and Cheesy Stick'

While enjoying our finger food for the night, we were carried away by Soul Intent with their jazz performance.

As the jazzy performance started not long, we were mesmerize by the voice of their lead singer Ms.Atilia Sarani, the lead singer of Soul Intent, with more booze flowing down, some of us even requested some songs and only get to know that she merged as the weekly champion of Sinaran Passport Kegemilangan 92 and also one of the top 10 finalists for Malaysian Idol Season Two.

With a great night like that, a glass of red wine, sit down and chat with the rest of the people is something that me and Ken really enjoy.

A great night like that would not be fun without this group of friends, with some great photo shots that I borrow from Uli.

Restaurant Brother Kuan @ Bandar Puteri, Puchong

If you ask me where to hunt for food, one of the places or area I would recommend is Bandar Puteri, Puchong. There are a lot of restaurant here, but most of them come and go as the competitive level here is very high in for foodie like me, its good as there are a lot of choices but for business is bad as have to keep coming up with new promotions.

One colleague of mine that she stay around the area that recommend we should come to this shop which is pretty good, without any hesitation, we directly head there as most of us don feel like eating at canteen for that day.

The place is simple, nice and cozy.

Dishes in the menu is not many variety but mostly are recommended.

With Ping Ping had dine here before, we leave the choise for her to choose.

This is the starter of the day, that Karen and Kebbie bought from a auntie from the front. I love the young mango, its not very sour yet very sweet. Good to eat before meal.

Although this look simple, but if you do come to this shop and dine, this would be a recommended dish by me, the 'BBQ Pork' had been roast till the outer layer is crispy, layer fats and meat are choose evenly and its just perfect.

'Hailam Chicken' that something is simple and nice with soft tender meat and smooth chicken skin add on with some ginger is just as good as it is.

Ahhh, this is my favorite of the day, 'BBQ-Pork Omelette' as not many people can fried an egg very aromatic that egg taste blends well with the bbq pork, onion and some vegies. I wish I had 2 of this. RM 6 Recommended~

If you are looking for something clear soup to go along, this would not be a bad choice to go after. 'Bayam with Superior Soup' RM 8

One of the unique taste of the day 'Roast Duck with Herbal Sauce' as I always eat roast duck but never with herbal sauce. The flaver blends in pretty good but do not expect the meat to be as aromatic that just roasted out but its another taste to enjoy. RM15

'Miss Fried Fish Paste' @ RM 8, deep fried perfectly, that a home made fish paste feel is there.

This happens to be another in demand dish as 'La Chi Prawns' was put down on the table, I was not fast enough as Kenji already stole one of the prawn as it looks too tempting. It is quite spicy (those who cannot eat spicy, please request to reduce it) and solid prawn meat that been fried along with the sauce and spiciness level is there just makes the prawn very good. RM25

During the whole meal, the chef and another lady been observing me for very long time and curious of me why keep taking picture and not long after that the chef which is also the owner Chef Marcus walked over and ask us how is the food, do we enjoy and everything, after found out that I am a foodie, he is even more friendly, telling me that this shop is the first restaurant that offer cart steam rice which is more on health purpose as to go along with his dish, Chinese herbal. Even Jack Neo with his recent news of scandals but his movie is still quite good. Being all the ingredient that have in the movie, sad, laughter, cherish moment and moral of the stories is always in the movie. With his recent movie, Being Human, I find it quite a good one which is about doing business not to just earn money but customer's health is also to be taken care of. Good deeds always comes with future good return.

For me, its quite a nice movie afterall. Worth to watch.

Tequila Tasting @ Bently Pub, Hotel Nikko

2 weeks ago, when I was working half way, then suddenly my email pop outs, an invitation. Instantly, I click to view it to see what was it about, and to my surprise got invited for a Tequila and Mezcal Tasting at Bentley’s Pub, Hotel Nikko. Many thanks that they had made one part of my wish come true that alcohol tasting is one of my wish as a foodie.

I just like the bar which is very classic, old english style with dim lights and wooden pieces of ceiling. A very comfortable place to be.

This is where the session's is going to be.

This is the orignal Tequila that flown all the way from Mexico. From front to back (Tequila Tizoc Anejo, Tequila Tizoc Reposado, and Tequila Tizoc Blanco)

and Mezcal all prepared and ready to be tasted by us. (Mezcal of Espadin Maguey, Mezcal of Wild Bicuixe Maguey, Mezcal of wild Tobashiche)

What I get to know that, in Mexico there are around 35 states and only 5 states are able to produce tequila that cannot be produce elsewhere in the world, which makes them so exclusive.

With the sheets of paper for us to learn on each individual flavors how it is different from.

All of the tables were preared with 6 piece of glasses as there are 3 flavors each for Tequila and Mezcal and water is for you to rince our mouth. When we were all seated, then Kevin the Sommelier tell us about himself and also ask us to help ourself at the food area that had been prepared. One little advice from him that, never take alcohol with an empty stomach.

Then we hurried and help ourself with prepared Mexican finger food.

1. Breaded goat cheese ball with wormseed and bean sauce
2. Duck in green pipian with red onion
3. Octopus crousillant with quajillo chile
4. Small plaintain quesadilla, beans

The sauces that need to dip with. Unique in taste which do not get to eat everyday.

He had been into restaurant business for more than 19 years start from waiter to manager and he had work in the best restaurant before from Barraca Orraca of the famed Anderson Restaurant Group to the internationally known Izote owned by chef Patricia Quintana, where he was a manager.

Then he started his sommelier studies in 2008 with sommelier Pedro Poncelis at one of the universities. He had also judge the “Ensenada, Tierra del Vino” XV, XVI, XVII editions for 3 consecutive years and the last one was in August 2009. Till now, he had earned a first Award of Excellence by Wine Spectator for maintaining one of the best wine list in the country. With the chain he is wearing, represents that he is a Sommelier

With his record, certainly I am going to enjoy myself learning to drink.

And let the class begin.

Start off with the first glass, Blanco. Hold your glass and tilt it till 45 degree as shown on the picture below and swirl it around. What we need to do next is to observe the colour and clarity.

After Swirl, we were suppose to smell on the Tequila, trying to get the scent of it.

If the layer of alcohol is clear and flowed down from the wall of the glass quickly, it shows that, take more a few glasses, you can park yourself for the rest of the night (indicates high level of alcohol content)

We was told that temparature is also one play one of the important role in preserving tip top taste of it, that it must always kept in cool temperature in between 14-17C, fridge is not advisable.

After trying all the glasses, I find it, it is pretty similar to wine tasting, but the amazing part is, how is the process they brew on it and the scent and taste been created out. For our very first sip, we were asked to swirl in our mouth to ensure the taste flavor the mouth and swallow it after that. After it travels down the throat, it was very spicy and strong. For girls to drink that, their face will definitely smirk! As told by him, the first taste is usually taste stronger as our tongue is still very mild and to taste on our tongue palate. Second sip, taste much better or the aroma and flavours. Then comes the mischievous Ken, teach us another way how to drink it, that after the sip and you tarik kuat kuat, : results: makes us lagi high, with the strong taste of spiciness shot up to our brain and nose.

'Tequila Tizoc Reposado' that been store (4-6 months) age in barrel, taste better compare to the first one, it taste milder and not that spicy that slides down my throat easily. I felt the after taste of mint flavor after it, chilling and cool.

Moving to third range, ‘Tequila Tizoc Anejo’ age at 14-16 months in a barrel had made me fall in lurve with tequila, with the first sip, I taste some earth and woody scent after the sip, but the overall balance is much creamier and smooth. This is one of the popular selection by the women as it is the strongest in alcohol level, taste better and just don play play with the girls in Mexico.

As the first range finishes, we were requested to eat or filled our stomach again and be prepared for round 2. Ting ting ting!

I find that Mezcal range is even more interesting that I have never tried before. The taste of it is surprisingly different and of course with alcohol lovers or those who are stress most of the time, this is the bottle that you might not want to miss with alcohol content of 48%-53%. Give me 3 shots and I will be done for the night, or I will start to talk nonsense with you. :)

Start testing with ‘Mezcal, Mezcal of Espadin Maguey’ (aged 9 to 12 years), slightly woody in flavors, not so spicy yet filled with citrus and some spices. Strong in first sip but soft after swallow.

Second glass ‘Mezcal of Wild Tobasiche’ (12 to 15 years) which I think it’s a bit similar to the first one and to end with Mexicano (13-16 years) and 'Bicuixe Maguey' (12 to 15 years) that contain the highest alcohol level. 53%! The taste is amazingly good! Not that spicy yet after effect is minty, but strong wood taste and aroma yet smooth and thicker too as I find that Mezcal is spicier and strong in wood aroma. When my first sip of Mezcal also makes me recall back some of my childhood memories, as its taste is very unique that end with wood, dusty, soil, ashes taste and smell. This scent is more obvious that Kevin request us to pour abit on our palm and rub against with both hands till it dry up then inhales. Amazingly, that’s the kind of scent that we are smelling.

As he mention to us how the scent come from was during the aging process that been stored in a area, it actually absorb the scent from the environment that make the drinks taste so natural. Mezcal do not comes cheap too as ONLY 130 bottles were produce each year as it is blend 100% from a plant that needed 30kg to produce one bottle and with the plant of 10 years old. With its limitation in the market, the price could easily rake up USD 160 per bottle.

I guess that, no matter what kind of alcohol, the older it is, it always taste the best!

A tip from Kevin that how do we know it is good tequila or bad, that during your purchase, just shake hard on the bottle, and if the Tequila or Mezcal create a lot of bubble like when you shake a coke, it means that is a great bottle!

Never drink tequila with lemon and salt which is not the proper way, that is what you seen on Hollywood movies and out in the market there are alot are for commercial production which do not use 100% of the plant.

Our gift for the night a double shot tequila glass which I have been wanting to buy for long time. So till next round... Kampaaiiiii~~~~~~

KhunThai Village @ Permatang Tengah, Butterworth

Although I am from Penang, but if you are asking me to tour you around the mainland, I am sure I will be lost or drive till another small town (of course do not mention the main area), but I have heard my friend mention a famous Thai food is nearby her area and also from my cousins. It was not until to plan out to meet up one of my best friend that had not keep in touch for quite some time and I had arrange dinner over there. Do not know where the place is and met up with a few of my Penang friend went over to my best friend which she is getting married few months time.

We reach there pretty early, about 7-ish and there is whole big parking located behind the restaurant and when we drive in, we was amaze how big the parking space is and the amount of car had nearly occupied the whole area.

The restaurant is decorated in very kampung style, with dry leaves and hut in the middle.

The main area when the restaurant was first started, after 3 years in business they had expended tremendously that makes them one of a famous thai restuarant in the neighbourhood that had attracted quite alot of people to dine there.

First order of the night comes out with 'Lumpanan Chicken' RM18 (L). The chicken meat is soft yet the outer layer was cook till abit crust as it is suppose to be that soak the aroma of pandan.

'Otak-Otak' @RM20 (L) is one of my favorite of the night, with its santan mild curry flavor yet filled with fresh seafood and mix it with rice, is something that I cannot stop eating while talking. It looks big but nits not a big portion as in the middle of the plate there are a wood place below it to make it looks like big portion. Recommended~

'Deep Fried Prawns with Starch' @RM12 (S) was recommended by my friend, deep fried to golden brown, crispy on the oustide yet dip it with the sauce given, taste much better by pulling the aroma out.

'Seafood' @RM30 The soup base is quite lime sour, spicy and with fresh squid and clamps I would say not bad as I still feel the one in KL Ah Roy Thai taste much better.

When 'Seafood Tom Yam' @RM 32 (L), the soup base is quite lime sour, spicy and with fresh squid and clamps I would say not bad as I still feel the one in KL Ah Roy Thai taste much better.

'Mee Hoon' @RM2 that to accompany on the tomyam soup, is something not to be miss.

'Fried Kang Kung' @RM 6 nothing much to brag on it.

'Fish with Spicy Sauce' @RM34 is the spiciest among all the dishes we had. A few sips had made my lips look like sausage and tears also about to burst. The fish had been deep fried well, and the spicy soup base that accompany with it, makes it a challenge. Very spicy yet I still want to eat it. Then my best friend’s eat like, ha, spicy meh? No ah..she finish the whole thing like there is no chili in it.. -_-“ , then only get to know that the spiciness level she can withstand is seriously high!

Overall, I find the place is not bad and the price of the total bills comes to around RM200 which is reasonable. One advice, to avoid frustration is reach there before 7pm to avoid the crazy crowd.

Korean Drama - Pasta

I never thought that, I would get addicted to this show, I guess any drama series related to cooking/food or dance I would always never miss it, in any language as long as I can understand I would not miss it.

For those who had been following me on my tweeter or as my Facebook friends, that I have been craving for Italian food recently, the cause and damage of it was from this movie that my friend had send me, as she said since I love food, why not watch this series.

This show is more on romance as it was about a dream of a young woman that dreams to become the elite chef of La Sfera restaurant and work hard on her way up. Of course, love happens when the restaurant hire a new chef that had vast experience from Italy that had made him one of the recognize chef in Korea. This is where the love spark started.

This movie also constantly makes me crave for Italian food because of the way of the food presentation and also its in fine dining concept yet also makes me consider going back into relationship, with the assistant young chef innocent and shy look. Lol~
If you love food, then this movie would definitely worth a watch.

I watch this movie in 3-D. After watching this movie, only I understand why there are no subtitle in 3-D movie as I find it very irritating with the wordings poping out so front and blog 1/5 of the images.

Quite a nice show, just don waste money in watching 3-D and feel its something the same as the movie Piercy Jackson the Lightning Theif. Some people find it either very good or very bad. For me I find it good. Worth a watch.

Ko Hyang Korean Food @ The Gardans

Mid Valley or The Gardens shopping mall is one of the places that most people hang around and shop, but when it comes to food, this mall also do offer a huge range of food and there are a few famous one too, one of it would be Ko Hyang, that it had a few months I had read in blog about this place, many bloggers mention about how good the food here.

It was not until recently I drop by and decided to give it a try.

It was the usual, that its always packed with people to wait on this small little stall, that is owned by Koreans.

One of the drinks that I enjoy when comes to Korean food which is 'Sik Hye' that I called it barley in korean style, some people might not like it but I do enjoy this drink alot of its taste wise. RM 3.80

Usually you eat in big restaurant or small restaurant you will be given appetizer first, just that restaurant have huge range of it and can refill.

One of the thing that I seldom miss is to keep trying out on 'Pancake' RM9.80. It was completely cook with the edge are crispy but it still had strong taste of flour in it, by dipping the with the sauce a bit only can eliminate the taste of it. I would say, I had better ones before.

One of the normal dish to choose that not to go wrong is their 'Ji Gye' RM14.90. Spicy in taste that the expecatation is there and its always cook with taufu.

'Bul go Gi' is one of my favorite in Korean range, although the beef texture been cook very well, just that if the taste wise been improve or they do have spicy range, it would taste even better.

This set is price at RM16.90

For me, I think my taste is different from others or the food that day it tasted so so only with different chef or people preparing it.

Life in Bangladesh Part 3

I was lucky when I got selected by the company to get send over to Bangladesh for a showcase, during the past 4 days I am there, with very limited free time that I have, I manage to take a peek of the city during last day of the fair, the food there was great (click here) and the fair where I was attending (click here).

During the last day, I woke up very early and went to the fair to set up everything, and the remaining of the time before the exhibition start, I went out further into their city to take a glimpse on how the city looks like as I was very curious and at the same time need to go hunting for souvenir.

Let's ride on this taxi and let me take you a mini tour street photography that I had took. I am still learning in this area.

With only an hour that I have, I walked fast and snap fast, do not have the time to enjoy the proper street photography that I have always wanted. I just wish I do have the extra time.

It was very early morning around 7am where every one is still sleeping and I was walking around my hotel area to see what is around there. They sky is always hazy here and those with sinus, this would not be a country good for you.

One thing which I have realizes that, there are a lot of universities in Bangladesh city itself. Just along the road of my hotel, there are 4 of them and not to mention a few blocks away and even though most of them are with degree holder but their pay is just very little with fresh grad non technical background, will get paid around USD100 per month and those with technical background USD200, which is double. That is why you see a lot of Bangladeshi in our country that even though they sapu toilet, the pay is higher than their fresh grad pay.

Then directly in between 2 universities, located this street food, as I was advice not to try as I got the license of smell and see only, which is pretty suffering for me, I love fooooddd! This is because they scared that our anti body system cannot support the level of dirtiness there, and will get terrible stomachache.

Kids here, start working as young as 5 years old to earn their living, some are streets and some help out in family or friends business.

If you are looking for something to shop, this are the kind of shop you will be looking for that all cramp in one place. They still do use classic wiring that is all over the poll to the shop and when look up at it, its full of wiring.

Everyone loves to be in the picture in this country, no matter young or old, whenever you take your camera up and ready to shoot, they will just appear in front of you.

After tour around the hotel, and head to exhibition hall and set up everything, now head to their town area.

According to the guy that driving me around, this road would be very jam as the current distance to the traffic light could take up 30-45 minutes easily, as I was like hah! its worst than KL traffic jam.

They do have 'tut tut' service too as what is in Thailand. Sometimes they just don stop and how you ride on it is you run and hop, then as see in the picture, just grab it like the guy do till you reach the destination then you hop off again.

I was told by that guy that, this is the main market in Bangladesh City which I can get my souvenir here.

Most of the shops had not open yet, but for consumer wise, it is very easy for us that they had seperated everything into sections. This street would be more on clothes and jewelry . . .

To me, it feels more like 'Padang Besar' like the one at the boarder of of Thai and Malaysia.

The market is very huge, which is like a big rectangle box and this is another entrance / exit that I do not know where I have walk too, and outside this market, there are alot of vendors selling shoes and slipper . One of the favourites there are Crocs slipper are available too with around RM20 as their selling price (original or not, I have no idea)

This is how the view out from the market.

This is not a police car or our local security car that protect the cash. This is one of their public transportation, to protect you in most of the places.

The streets will get more busy after 11pm as it is still very early when I took this.

You can syok syok turn or go straight even there are a policeman where the unpatient driver will do that and there is one bus that have no patience and break the traffic law directly go straight, the policeman was standing and cursing then took out his book and wrorte down the plate.

and lastly after could not find anything in the market, and stop by this shop, which is a shopping mall with 4 floors high, that makes me nearly fainted when I walked in. Its like mini market in our country that been well decorated in interior.

After the peek of it and I went back to the exhibition and grab a travel guide from one of the exhibitors there and look at their places of interest. Amazingly, there are actually quite numbers of places to be visited that have to drive out from the city and their structure looks good! More info of their travel of interest (click here)

Grand Hibiscus Ballroom Media Tour @ Swiss Garden Hotel, KL

Last year it had been a crazy year as got bombarded by lots of ‘red bomb’(red invitation card for Chinese means wedding dinner) for some of my friend had decided to settle down with their loves one, I particularly got like every week 1 card since beginning of December till end of January. If just by attending all, I would just need to fill in a form and declare broke. Usually the food in the wedding dinner would not be so good and it always depends on which hotel or caterer and its a good news for couples planing to host wedding this year, certainly this would be a option.

It was not until few days ago, got an opportunity to take a glimpse at Grand Hibiscus Ballroom media tour that organize by Swiss Garden Hotel and also a chance to taste on their wedding package menu.

The ballroom is brand new that was just opened recently, and manages to host around 5 wedding dinner in such a modern design ballroom.

Every couple will demand for the design of their wedding hall, and to make the choice easy, Swiss Garden had a proffesional in house wedding planner to assist the couple to cater for their demand yet they also do have certain package and theme to go along for the night.

The wedding dinner that was just hosted the night before that the newly wed's chose the theme of Lavender, which signifies calm and peacefull. Besides this, there are a few other theme such as, Rose, IRIS, Jasmine and a few more.

The whole ballroom and lighting will be decorated among the theme as the main colour for Lavender is light purple. I just love their modern design with a touch of nature with some of the wall lighting are flower's design, so do the carpet. The ceiling colour will be set according to the theme too.

The table cloth and settings are set accordingly to the theme.

This is media review for the dishes of the night that the package ranges from RM750++ - RM1450++ per table.

'An Infusion of Hot and Cold Combination' was the first dish of the night.

It was fried very crispy on the outside till you feel like you are eating crackers and inside is filled with shirmp.

'The japanese Octopus which is fresh and juicy, Fried Wan Tan and Fried Egg with Shark Fin and Egg Roe'

'Braised Shark's Fin Soup with Crab Meat and Crab Roe'

As I would rate one of the best, love the starchy salty taste and with vinegar in dark maroon colour add on it, just pull out the taste of the pot cook aroma. The sharkin added in was genuine and top grade, that every sip we can taste the slices and the crab roe added in can just feel the rocky solid and a bit salty. Makes me remember the first bowl of shark fin when I try when I was young.

'Kwai Fei Chicken' something that look and taste very simple but had been cook to the best, the soup base taste is very mild, with Chinese wine, a bit of Chinese herbs, a bit salty taste in it and the chicken meat had been steam and cook to its juiciest and soft meat.

'Red Garoupa "Yin Yong" Style'

This fish is one of the best dish with its meat so juicy and tender as the chef mention had used 8 hours of marination. Imagine it the succulent taste.

If you are a cheese lover, the meat had been dough and marinates well to stuff the cheese in it and fried under hot oil till it was golden brown and the cheese just melt. This is what we call Chinese version of Stuff crust pizza. It taste awesome and we had not enough of it.

'Wok Fried Tiger Prawns "Yin Yeong" Style'

Salad mayonnaise prawn is rich in taste, not that creamy which suits the taste of old people with high cholesterol that the meat is chewy and fresh.

My preferred choice, as when I we took picture of this, the smell of the fried Nestum had just makes me put want to eat it instantly. It was fried till the aroma came out and its crispy to eat along with the prawn.

'Braised Abalone, Sea Cucumber and Black Mushroom with Broccoli'. The first thing that came into my mind was the abalone that had been cut into cubes shows the sign of big abalone and the chef use '2 head abalone' that been boil, steam and marinate with its gravy for a few hours that makes it so soft, juicy and chewy. The soup base is top notch!

'Salted Egg Fried Rice' fried with wok hei and the salted egg had just pull out the aroma and eat it with sambal, taste perfect.

'Pastry Duets'

'Double Boiled Shark's Fin Melon with White Fungus and Honey Dates'

Which is something new to me, as one of the type melon that had been finely chop till it look like shark fin. Then cook under high temperature to get the sweetness of it out and mix with the rest of the ingredient that end me with 3 bowl of it.

The wedding dinner set menu certainly serves great quality of food that I would say with a classic touch in a modern feel. The Chinese dish taste is very authentic as what I feel. If wedding dinner with this kind of serving, surely it would make the wedding even more perfect.

Dim Sum at House of Tang @ Bangsar 1

This restaurant is no longer a stranger to us as they served quality food. We had 2 occasions here that was during our first time got to know this place for a review on their food and second we did a Chinese New Year Photo shoot here. I heard a few feedback from my friend mentioning that their tim sum is pretty good too, and this round we are here for a round of great tim sum!

'Soup-filled Dumplings with Goji'

'Spring Roll with Salad and Prawn' been fried crisply on the outer thin layer of the roll and the salad prawn that mix in it is not too creamy which is just nice.

'Pan Fried Carrot Cake' had always been one of my favaurite that makes it a must have item for me. I love it as it is perfectly grill on the skin layer and inside its soft and filled with aroma of dry shrimp, by dipping with their chili and sweet sauce is just what I prefer.

'Homey Sticky Rice Rolls'

'Prawn Dumplings with Asparagus'

that we decide to operate it open. Filled with a big piece of juicy prawn which cause by the after effect during steam and its fresh.

'Rice Rolls with You Tiao and Chicken Floss' as I love mine to dip it in soy sauce.

'Dumplings (Siew Mai) with Ebiko' is rich in ingrediant and I love to chew on Ebiko.

'Sizzling Marinated Meat Bao'

‘Guangzhou Prawn Red Rolls’ Is something which is not in tim sum’s menu that turns out to be one of their special dish in this limited time to be given out complimentary when you order 3-5 plates of dim sum.

Chewy skin that wrap with crispy tempura crust that been crush and a fresh prawn is insert in the middle, something that we do not get to eat every day, worth a try.

We get to taste one of the lunch special 'Curry Fish Head' which is around RM14.50++ for this big pot, that I totally agree is one of the cheapest!

Me and Sunny just cant stop drinking the curry base and looking for the meat inside the claypot. Its aromatic with curry spices and the fish meat is fresh. Given a plate of rice to go along, we have no problem in finishing it within minutes.

‘Unagi Puff with Teriyaki Sauce’ that you must have it hot while its out from the oven. Freshly baked and unique in taste with solid crust wrap around it and taste like Unagi in pineapple tart skin.

'Yam Paste Pau' is the piglet that served next and all of us were like wahhh!!! so cutee!! then what happen to the pau next is as the picture below. . . .

A tim sum makan will never be perfect for me if did not end it with desert.

'Herbal Jelly With Ginseng Roots' is highly recommended by me, if you love strong ginseng and herbal taste that served out chill. I had 2 bolws of this.

or you can go for 'Tau Fu Fah' served with ginger white sugar puree.

If you are looking for some dish which is not in the daily menu, then this restaurant is worth a try, with their price is quite reasonable with the portion.

Restaurant Tien Kee Soup & Porridge @ SS14

To hunt for nice food is always not easy, especially with home cook and traditional style, it was not until recently we discover a place that cook good Teow Chew and Hakka food which is located at SS14, a place which I went pretty often for the nasi lemak during my college days.

This restaurant is more than 20 years old which first the family run its business on southern Johore and until few years back one of the siblings decided to open one branch in the urban city area that run similar menu. Their signature dish to look for is more on soup and porridge.

Newspaper had it all with their authentic style in taste.

The price in this restaurant I would say reasonable or cheap and the portion is huge.

'Lobak (卤肉) @RM6 (S) RM14 (M) RM20 (B)

'Button-shaped yam balls - Abacus (客家算盘子)' that I enjoy eating, its chewy and fried with 'wok hei' that end with a bit dry on taste. @RM8

'Soon Kueh (客家筍粿)' stuff with dried shrimps, bamboo shoots, fungus, and minced meat. @RM2.20/piece'

'Braised Pork with Black Fungus (炆炸肉) @RM9'

If you love, one of the traditional dish, that has to add on vinegar to cook in it, strong taste of vinegar that boiled along with pork till it is soft and juicy. Just as the way I like it. 'Black Vineger Trotter (猪脚醋)' @RM9 '

'Stewed Pork with yam (芋头扣肉)' that the yam is steam till very soft and eat it along with a bowl of yam rice is perfect. RM13 '

'Braised Duck Meat (特制炆鸭肉)' @RM9 is something that I enjoy that on that meal provided with a plate of white rice, I can just finish it.

'Yam Rice (芋头饭)' is aromatic with some dry shrimps yam chunks and its a bit dry as I like it where add on some sauce of the dish it just goes well. @RM1.20(S) RM2(B). '

'Braised Duck Porridge (特制鸭粥) @RM8' that is my first encounter, as I do normally do take Duck Porridge when I was back in Penang but not here, taste pretty awesome, that is not salty, and the porridge cook just nice that the rice is not overcook, this is one of the signature item in Tien Kee. Give it a try.

I just love their homemade special ginger sauce. Specially marinated with some vinegar and it goes very well with porridge especially those who are sick or got flu. I took 2 souce plate of it.

If you are looking for something mild in taste, then you should go for 'Pomfret Soup with Vege (白鲳鱼汤) @RM16. Sweet mild soup taste cook with vegetable and the fish is very fresh, soft and slices which had been cut perfectly for cooking purpose.

'Pomfret Fish Mee Suah (白鲳鱼面线) @RM16' is another option you can go for.

If you wanted something spicy or sour 'Sze Chuan Noodles (四川粉) @RM8.50' is one of the recommended choice as the taste had change to suit the local taste with added on some of their cooking style. Simple yet delicious~

Chinois Chinese Fine Dining Restaurant @ Hotel Micheal, Singapore

After touring around the city, then all of us were pretty exhausted by the morning flew over, Press Conference and Official Launch of SANYO Xacti, mini tour of the Resort World and just head into the restaurant. When we reach the restaurant and were told by the rest of the friends, that the restaurant was actually located quite near Universal Studio and we walk one big round towards this place but it was a good window tour. . .

Here we are, in Chinoiz Restaurant that serve Fine Chinese Food.

Love the interior with a bit of modern Oriental style, lit with dim light and the place is very comfortable.

That I do not mind to sit there and chat all night long~

The selection of alcohol prepare for all the guest.

with French wine is one of the selection for the night.

We were there early, and we manage to take a lot of pictures with the models and some of the products.

The picture printing were sponsor by Sanyo and it was printed on the spot.

Then not long after that, they move us to a VIP room, the whole room just for us, Malaysian Media.

and I look at the menu, I got all excited bymyself, and I told Witch, she got excited too as we did not expect the food list would be so grand.

With the price tag on the menu, it certainly is reasonable if do not the conversion rate.

While we were happily chatting, then came a waitress ask us what drinks we would like to have and I ask her back, then she said, fruit juice (many types of juices including custom made order), red/white wine, Champaign, beer (Tiger, Heinaken, Tsing Tao) and we were like errrr errrrr..juices first.. all still very pai seh including me.

When the first guy start to order alcohol, then here comes the order for it.

We tried every selection of it. We love the wine as it was smooth and of course the best selection of all night was Red and champaign.

Not long after the drinks, first dish of the night arrive with 'Chilled Momotaro Tomato Salad topped with Sake marinated Confit of Lobster'. I just do not know how to say or I would say it was one of a perfect appetizer to start of with. Simple taste that preserves the fresh sweet taste of the lobster and tomato is to add in some sweet sour taste onto it, Perfect!

'Double-boiled Shark’s fin with Sea Treasures served in Coconut', when we saw this serving, we were like wahhh!!!! And the smell of the soup taste travels and fill into the room, till the moment it was place down, some of them even ready with spoon and attack , with just a slice of bacon on top of the soup was already unique yet inside a coconut shell. . .

To our surprise, we scoop up quite huge abalone in it and it taste awesome! Sweet, juicy and very aromatic with the soup taste.

then we also found a slab of shark fin, which was told it is a good quality, we never care, we just enjoy our soup, it was sweet, aromatic with seafood sweet taste and the coconut flavour did not overpower the rest of the taste. It was one of the best soup I have drank so far.

'Crisp-fried Fillet of Marble Goby served with Mixed Green salad and Mint leaves'

As it looks pretty simple to me in such a long plate, but it proves me wrong. Fried crispy on the outer layer and the fillet in there is soft, by dipping with the sauce given, it just taste excellent!

'Pan-seared Australian Wagyu beef with Foie Gras'

Pan grill to my liking with medium that cut it with sharp knife ooze out the juice and blood of it, dipping with the sauce on the plate, it taste good and the foie gras was grilled perfect too, that preserve the outer layer a bit cook and inside is soft and juicy. Great main course as it goes very well with the red wine.

'Braised Mee Sua in Noble Tan Fu Sauce served with Freshly-peeled Crab Claw'

Fresh juicy solid crab meat that had cook well in it.

Mee sua that just cook in the right condition which is not too soft yet still soak the soup base of it while pulling up.

'Gratin of Assorted Berries and Fruits in Passion Fruit Sabayon' would be perfect for girls as all the berries are sour in taste with cream top on it, to me its not bad as I take it to cool down my alcohol level.

Then Nick Manage to pass us a unit of Xacti and Witch took her SD card to film it, and surprise us that the quality is good.

After we finish our dinner and alcohol keep pouring in, some that did not talk so much began to talk a lot, and suddenly bang…the 2 models came in and thought of trying to pose something different, James Bond in Soh Loook. :D

Then of course in this kind of event, a group picture must not miss with bloggers, Magazine Media, Stuff, Click, Velocity, NST and some others.

with one of the manager that she and Nick host us for the night and of course the boss too. We just do not know what to say as the seriously pamper and provide us 5 star hospitality. Thank you is the only word I can say.

With all the booze being in all the time, and before we head back to hotel, of course we need to let it out and it is good to see ah Ong stim again~ and definately, this is one of the very first restaurant I would recommend in Singapore.
