To hunt for nice food is always not easy, especially with home cook and traditional style, it was not until recently we discover a place that cook good Teow Chew and Hakka food which is located at SS14, a place which I went pretty often for the nasi lemak during my college days.

This restaurant is more than 20 years old which first the family run its business on southern Johore and until few years back one of the siblings decided to open one branch in the urban city area that run similar menu. Their signature dish to look for is more on soup and porridge.

Tien Kee

Tien Kee (2)

Newspaper had it all with their authentic style in taste.

Tien Kee (3)

Tien Kee (4)

The price in this restaurant I would say reasonable or cheap and the portion is huge.

Tien Kee (5)

'Lobak (卤肉) @RM6 (S) RM14 (M) RM20 (B)

Tien Kee (7)

'Button-shaped yam balls - Abacus (客家算盘子)' that I enjoy eating, its chewy and fried with 'wok hei' that end with a bit dry on taste. @RM8

Tien Kee (8)

'Soon Kueh (客家筍粿)' stuff with dried shrimps, bamboo shoots, fungus, and minced meat. @RM2.20/piece'

Tien Kee (10)

'Braised Pork with Black Fungus (炆炸肉) @RM9'

Tien Kee (11)

If you love, one of the traditional dish, that has to add on vinegar to cook in it, strong taste of vinegar that boiled along with pork till it is soft and juicy. Just as the way I like it. 'Black Vineger Trotter (猪脚醋)' @RM9 '

Tien Kee (12)

'Stewed Pork with yam (芋头扣肉)' that the yam is steam till very soft and eat it along with a bowl of yam rice is perfect. RM13 '

Give it a try.

Tien Kee (17)

I just love their homemade special ginger sauce. Specially marinated with some vinegar and it goes very well with porridge especially those who are sick or got flu. I took 2 souce plate of it.

Tien Kee (18)

If you are looking for something mild in taste, then you should go for 'Pomfret Soup with Vege (白鲳鱼汤) @RM16. Sweet mild soup taste cook with vegetable and the fish is very fresh, soft and slices which had been cut perfectly for cooking purpose.

Tien Kee (19)

'Pomfret Fish Mee Suah (白鲳鱼面线) @RM16' is another option you can go for.

Tien Kee (20)

If you wanted something spicy or sour 'Sze Chuan Noodles (四川粉) @RM8.50' is one of the recommended choice as the taste had change to suit the local taste with added on some of their cooking style. Simple yet delicious~

After touring around the city, then all of us were pretty exhausted by the morning flew over, Press Conference and Official Launch of SANYO Xacti, mini tour of the Resort World and just head into the restaurant. When we reach the restaurant and were told by the rest of the friends, that the restaurant was actually located quite near Universal Studio and we walk one big round towards this place but it was a good window tour. . .

Here we are, in Chinoiz Restaurant that serve Fine Chinese Food.

Chinois

Chinois (2)

Love the interior with a bit of modern Oriental style, lit with dim light and the place is very comfortable.

That I do not mind to sit there and chat all night long~

Chinois (3)

Chinois (4)

The selection of alcohol prepare for all the guest.

Chinois (6)

with French wine is one of the selection for the night.

Chinois (7)

We were there early, and we manage to take a lot of pictures with the models and some of the products.

Chinois (8)

The picture printing were sponsor by Sanyo and it was printed on the spot.

Chinois (9)

Then not long after that, they move us to a VIP room, the whole room just for us, Malaysian Media.

Chinois (10)

and I look at the menu, I got all excited bymyself, and I told Witch, she got excited too as we did not expect the food list would be so grand.

Chinois (19)

With the price tag on the menu, it certainly is reasonable if do not the conversion rate.

Chinois (20)

Chinois (11)

While we were happily chatting, then came a waitress ask us what drinks we would like to have and I ask her back, then she said, fruit juice (many types of juices including custom made order), red/white wine, Champaign, beer (Tiger, Heinaken, Tsing Tao) and we were like errrr errrrr..juices first.. all still very pai seh including me.

When the first guy start to order alcohol, then here comes the order for it.

Chinois (12)

We tried every selection of it. We love the wine as it was smooth and of course the best selection of all night was Red and champaign.

Chinois (13)

This is my selection.

Chinois (14)

Not long after the drinks, first dish of the night arrive with 'Chilled Momotaro Tomato Salad topped with Sake marinated Confit of Lobster'. I just do not know how to say or I would say it was one of a perfect appetizer to start of with. Simple taste that preserves the fresh sweet taste of the lobster and tomato is to add in some sweet sour taste onto it, Perfect!

Chinois (15)

'Double-boiled Shark’s fin with Sea Treasures served in Coconut', when we saw this serving, we were like wahhh!!!! And the smell of the soup taste travels and fill into the room, till the moment it was place down, some of them even ready with spoon and attack , with just a slice of bacon on top of the soup was already unique yet inside a coconut shell. . .

Chinois (16)

To our surprise, we scoop up quite huge abalone in it and it taste awesome! Sweet, juicy and very aromatic with the soup taste.

Chinois (17)

then we also found a slab of shark fin, which was told it is a good quality, we never care, we just enjoy our soup, it was sweet, aromatic with seafood sweet taste and the coconut flavour did not overpower the rest of the taste. It was one of the best soup I have drank so far.

Chinois (18)

'Crisp-fried Fillet of Marble Goby served with Mixed Green salad and Mint leaves'

As it looks pretty simple to me in such a long plate, but it proves me wrong. Fried crispy on the outer layer and the fillet in there is soft, by dipping with the sauce given, it just taste excellent!

Chinois (21)

'Pan-seared Australian Wagyu beef with Foie Gras'

Pan grill to my liking with medium that cut it with sharp knife ooze out the juice and blood of it, dipping with the sauce on the plate, it taste good and the foie gras was grilled perfect too, that preserve the outer layer a bit cook and inside is soft and juicy. Great main course as it goes very well with the red wine.

Chinois (22)

'Braised Mee Sua in Noble Tan Fu Sauce served with Freshly-peeled Crab Claw'

Chinois (23)

Fresh juicy solid crab meat that had cook well in it.

Chinois (24)

Mee sua that just cook in the right condition which is not too soft yet still soak the soup base of it while pulling up.

Chinois (25)

'Gratin of Assorted Berries and Fruits in Passion Fruit Sabayon' would be perfect for girls as all the berries are sour in taste with cream top on it, to me its not bad as I take it to cool down my alcohol level.

Then Nick Manage to pass us a unit of Xacti and Witch took her SD card to film it, and surprise us that the quality is good.

Chinois (28)

After we finish our dinner and alcohol keep pouring in, some that did not talk so much began to talk a lot, and suddenly bang…the 2 models came in and thought of trying to pose something different, James Bond in Soh Loook. :D

Chinois (27)

Then of course in this kind of event, a group picture must not miss with bloggers, Magazine Media, Stuff, Click, Velocity, NST and some others.

Chinois (29)

with one of the manager that she and Nick host us for the night and of course the boss too. We just do not know what to say as the seriously pamper and provide us 5 star hospitality. Thank you is the only word I can say.

Chinois (30)

With all the booze being in all the time, and before we head back to hotel, of course we need to let it out and it is good to see ah Ong stim again~ and definately, this is one of the very first restaurant I would recommend in Singapore.

Peek into Universal Studio and Resort World @ Sentosa, Singapore

Posted by Taufulou | Labels: , , , , , , , , , , | Posted On at 9:24 PM

Continuing post of Xacti launch. . . . . .
After the press conference of SANYO new range product (click here to view) we have 3 hours by ourselves before dinner and we got excited to explore the whole city, the first place we are heading is Hard Rock Hotel Singapore which was located directly above our conference hall.

Universal

Nothing much to shout about the hotel as the outlook and interior is similar to the one in Penang.

Universal (2)

Universal (3)

One of the camera men sitting across the street seeing me climb here and there he like also ‘mou ngan tai’ as trying to get myself in good position for solo and group shot..keke, end this is how we ended up.. and we were all sweating like crazy after this shot.

Universal (5)

Went to take a peek at their Rock Shop which is pretty huge and their souvenir are pretty cool with the drumming stick design is very nice, thought of buying one but with after the conversion back to Ringgit, I might just forget it.

Universal (4)

Modern concept of lobby which is much bigger compare to the one in Penang but its pretty similar.

Universal (6)

Universal (7)

Universal (8)

Their pool area is very big!

Universal (9)

Next of course to the hottest and gossip of the town, newly open CASINO at Resort World Singapore at Sentosa. One of the entrances which will make your millionaire dream comes true.

Universal (10)

Unique way of heading to the main entrance with all the escalator lit up, ocean classical music with some effect on the wall which is pretty cool.

Universal (11)

You can see fish swimming above you.

Universal (12)

I just love this hall, makes us feel like we are in the world of Harry Potter if there are 2 long table stretches along.

Universal (13)

The entrance to your dream and hell, one of the conditions that the government had set to prevent Singaporean from entering so often as we know, or in the movie, the always buy Toto or ‘Ma Piau’. So for foreigners to enter the casino is FREE and all Singaporean need to pay SG100 for the entrance, errr which is like around RM250 per entrance…

Feels like haven’t go in gamble or wish to have a look on the decoration or peek of it already lose RM250 or SG 100 to the casino. I guess, the locals have to give first then only got the form to fight back~ and there are a lot of ATM machines located next to the entrance.

One thing I notice is Junior Lim (what me and my friends called the owner of Genting Group) is not stingy in Singapore, as one of the Jackpot price they are giving for slots machine or one of the game inside casino is Lamborghini. Damm! They so tempting~

Universal (14)

Then just walk around. . . .

Universal (15)

Heading to one of the places I really want to go. .

Universal (16)

Universal (18)

Universal (19)

A mini costume parade with a security lady standing nearby them.

Universal (20)

And here we are, at Universal Studio Singapore, which have not been officially open to the public yet. Expected to open to public on the mid of April with the entrance free of SG65 per day as what been told by one of the security guy there which is pretty reasonable.

Just by looking at the roller coaster when drove pass by on our way here making me so stim~ wish to ride on the entire coaster.

Universal (21)

The trademark of the place, Globe of Universal Studio.

Universal (22)

Got lost in looking for others and Toh candid me.

Universal (23)

Universal (24)

Main entrance to the theme park, and there was a long que on that day, as what we been inform, there are certain time, they allow very limited people to go into the park for a mini tour but on that day Adam Lambert concert was there, with me, Witch and Saucer.

Universal (25)

Waiting for the counter to open.

Universal (28)

Universal (26)

did not manage to go in, only manage to take a peek into the park, which is pretty interesting like the one I went to Gold Coast, Dreamworld.

Universal (27)

Universal (29)

We were like, aiii, cannot go in, so how . . . go back to restaurant and rest la~

Universal (30)

Universal (31)

While on the way walking back then we saw this place… Hershey’s Chocolate shop.

Universal (32)

I must say, this is one of the poisonous chocolate so far,Reese, I bought a few packs as my friend said its very nice, and the next day took back to Malaysia, I already walap the whole packet.

Its not very sweet, yet center of the chocolate is filled with peanut butter that will just melt in your tongue, wish that they have it in Malaysia.

Universal (33)

If you are a chocolate lover and feel that you must hug your chocolate to dreamland, then you can consider buying this huge Hershey’s Kisses

Universal (34)

or their big bottle of syrup, Sunny as the embassador. . .

Universal (35)

to drink it like there's no tomorrow. . .

Universal (36)

sure would want to get my hands on their popcorn. . wonder how it taste like? save it for next round~

Universal (37)

Then there is latin dance going on by the Pilipino if not mistaken.

Universal (38)

You shake,

Universal (39)

you dance and

Universal (40)

flip it like a star.

Universal (41)

Finding our way to the restaurant.

Universal (42)

If you are a winner in the Casino and would want to buy something for your love ones, this would be the perfect street to shop at..

Universal (43)

One of the hotels, offer Royce Royce pick up. .

Universal (44)

With two big naked statue standing tall in the hall area which is Adam and Eve as what I been told.

Universal (45)

with Adam's kukuciau hanging there.. . . .

Universal (46)

and finially we reach Hotel Micheal, the place that we are going to have our dinner.

Universal (47)

As all of us are very tired after walking around since morning till now, Sunny decided to post like Playmate.

Universal (48)

and I decide to meditate. . . and that's all for now . . . and look forward for tomorrow with their delicious menu that they have in place for us, one of the best food so far.
